摘要: A downhole tool including an insertion member arranged to insert into and form an annular seal with a receiving member using an annular seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a compliant metal spring and a separate metal cover overlapping at least a portion of an outside of the spring, wherein the cover and spring extend radially outward from the downhole tool so as to be compressed when the insertion member is inserted within the receiving member to form an annular metal-to-metal seal between the insertion member and the receiving member. A method of coupling the downhole tool and the receiving member in a well includes inserting the insertion member of the downhole tool into the receiving member and energizing and forming an annular metal-to-metal seal by compressing the seal assembly between the insertion member and the receiving member when inserting the insertion member into the receiving member.

摘要: Swellable packer assemblies, downhole packer systems, and methods to seal a wellbore are presented. A swellable packer assembly includes a mandrel and a sealing material disposed about a portion of the mandrel, where the sealing material is formed from a material that radially expands from the mandrel in response to fluid exposure. The swellable packer assembly also includes a cover that is initially disposed about a portion of an outer surface of the sealing material, where the cover prevents the sealing material from being exposed to fluid while the cover is positioned about the portion of the outer surface of the sealing material, and a pressure-actuated piston configured to shift from a first position about the mandrel to a second position about the mandrel, where the sealing material is exposed to fluid after the pressure-actuated piston shifts from the first position towards the second position.

摘要: A technique facilitates patching of a tubing (42), e.g. casing (36), in a downhole environment (32). The technique employs a patching system comprising a plurality of expansion rings (48). The expansion rings (48) are moved downhole to a patch zone (38) along the tubing (34). Once in a desired position at the patch zone, the expansion rings (48) are expanded into engagement with an inner surface of the tubing. For example, the expansion rings may comprise seal elements (52) and/or anchor elements which are expanded into engagement with the inside surface. The patching system further comprises a patch (68) which may have a tubular shape. The patch is radially expanded in a manner which maintains a sealing engagement with the plurality of expansion rings (48) to create a sealed patch across a desired region in the patch zone.

摘要: A wellbore isolation device is provided which includes a tubular body having an external surface and an inner bore formed longitudinally through the tubular body. The tubular body has an expanding section transitionable from an initial configuration to an expanded configuration. One or more fins project radially from the external surface of the expanding section. The fins are anchorable into surrounding surfaces when the expanding section transitions to the expanded configuration. A plugging element is positioned, after the expanding section is in the expanded configuration, to restrict fluid communication through the inner bore.

摘要: An inflatable down hole bag includes an inflatable body for holding an inflation fluid and a container for holding one or more substances. The container is disposed inside of the inflatable body and includes a closure for keeping the one or more substances in the container when the closure is in an inoperative state. The closure also releases the one or more substances from the container when the closure is in an operative state. Release of a substance causes an inflation fluid producing reaction within the inflatable body, thereby inflating the inflatable body. The container includes at least two separated chambers. Each chamber holds a respective one of the substances. The closure includes a stopper for closing a respective opening to one of the chambers. The closure further includes an actuator for removing each stopper from the respective opening so as to release each substance from each respective chamber.
