Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply a modified interference cleaning data to account for differences in interference between at least one pilot resource and at least one data resource, thereby improving data decoding performance of the UE. The UE receives at least one pilot resource and at least one data resources from a base station and identifies interference cleaning data based on the pilot resource. The UE then determines whether a first interference affecting the pilot resource is the same as a second interference affecting the data resource. When the first interference is the same as the second interference, the UE applies the interference cleaning data to the data resource. Otherwise, when the first interference is different than the second interference, the apparatus applies a modified interference cleaning data to the data resource.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques allow a channel engineering device (CED) to identify a suitable configuration for deflecting downlink transmissions from a base station to a user equipment (UE). The base station may transmit control signaling to the CED indicating multiple configurations for deflecting downlink reference signals from the base station. The base station may then transmit the downlink reference signals to the CED, and the CED may deflect the downlink reference signals using the indicated configurations. The UE may receive the downlink reference signals from the base station via the CED, and the UE may perform measurements on the downlink reference signals. The UE may then report the measurements to the base station, and the base station may indicate a configuration for the CED to use to deflect subsequent transmissions from the base station to the UE based on the measurements.

Abstract: Aspects of disclosure relate to a UE reporting to a gNB time delays and phases of pilot signals received via multiple transmission paths in order for the gNB to pre-equalize a future transmission to the UE. The UE determines a first time delay for receiving a first pilot signal from a gNB via a first path, determines a second time delay for receiving a second pilot signal from the gNB via a second path, and generates a report based on the first time delay and the second time delay. The UE then sends the report to the gNB and receives a multi-TRP signal from the gNB via the first path and the second path, wherein the multi-TRP signal is pre-equalized for transmission based on the report to at least have a same time delay as a shorter one of the first time delay or the second time delay.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for setting a resolution for an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) of a user equipment (UE) based on a modulated reference signal received from a base station (BS) during a first (for example, initial) symbol period of a slot. In one aspect, the first symbol period of the slot and a cyclic prefix (CP) of the first symbol period may be relatively longer in time than other symbol periods and other CPs of the slot and, in some implementations, the BS may transmit a configuration to the UE allocating a portion of the first symbol period for the transmission of the modulated reference signal. The UE may demodulate the modulated reference signal, calibrate an automatic gain control (AGC) of the UE, and set the resolution of the ADC of the UE based on the modulated reference signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit a set of synchronization signals (SSs) with a first periodicity to a channel engineering device and one or more other wireless devices. The base station may transmit a message to configure the channel engineering device with one or more signaling directions and a second periodicity for the channel engineering device to transmit the set of SS, the second periodicity different from the first periodicity. The one or more signaling directions and the second periodicity may be configured for adjusting a coverage area of the set of SS after transmission from the base station. The base station may receive, from a user equipment (UE) or other wireless device, a second message that includes an indication of whether the set of SS were received by the UE directly from the base station or via the channel engineering device.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for sounding reference signals (SRSs) triggered by random access channel (RACH) message 2 for RACH message 4 physical downlink shared channel quasi co-location (QCL) are disclosed herein. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station via a transmit beam over a random access channel, a random access preamble and receive a random access response based on the random access preamble. The UE may transmit, to the base station via a plurality of transmit sub-beams, a plurality of SRS transmissions triggered by the random access response. The UE can receive, from the base station, a downlink control signal that includes an SRS resource indicator (SRI) that indicates a selected transmit sub-beam for a corresponding SRS transmission. The UE can use the SRI as QCL information for improved reception of downlink signaling with a refined receive sub-beam corresponding to the selected transmit sub-beam.
