    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use the techniques described herein to efficiently detect beam failure. In one aspect, the UE may autonomously select one or more criteria for detecting beam failure. The UE may then perform measurements on beam failure detection reference signals received from the base station and use the selected one or more criteria to detect beam failure. Because the UE may select the one or more criteria without signaling from the base station, control overhead between the UE and the base station may be reduced.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may communicate with a second UE using a shared radio frequency spectrum band. The first UE may perform a listen before talk (LBT) and may transmit a first positioning reference signal (PRS) based on a result of the LBT. The first UE may transmit the first PRS using a first time resource that is based on a duration of the first PRS. In response to detecting the first PRS, the second UE may transmit a second PRS using a second time resource that is based on the duration of the first PRS. The second UE may transmit the second PRS based on performing an LBT without a random back-off, which may enable the second UE to transmit the second PRS with reduced latency and improved reliability.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may indicate one or more uplink beams that the UE is capable of generating where grating and main lobes of the one or more uplink beams satisfy a permissible exposure constraint. The UE may operate in an intra-band or inter-band carrier aggregation (CA) mode, and the UE may indicate an uplink beam per band of the CA mode that the UE is capable of generating to satisfy the permissible exposure constraint. Frequency dependent beam training may be initiated by the base station to support intra-band CA modes and inter-band CA modes. The base station may indicate a frequency band and uplink beam to the UE, and the UE may indicate one or more parameter values that the UE may use to generate the uplink beam in the band that satisfies the permissible exposure constraints.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques enable a first wireless device (e.g., an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node in an IAB system) or a network entity (e.g., a centralized unit (CU) in the IAB system) to select a set of wireless devices for communication. The first wireless device, the CU, or both may select the set of wireless devices for communication based on a pathloss mode of the first wireless device, whether an angular separation between a group of nodes (e.g., one or more of the set of wireless devices) is less than an angular separation threshold, or both. The first wireless device may communicate with the set of wireless devices with one or more communications beams. For example, the device may communicate with multiple wireless devices using a single communication beam if the angular separation between the multiple devices is relatively low.

A base station may receive positioning information for a first user equipment (UE), the first UE supporting sidelink communications via a sidelink interface with one or more roadside units.     Abstract: Independent ranging sessions that are initiated by multiple initiating user equipments (UEs) are detected and combined into a single combined ranging session to reduce overhead. The independent ranging sessions may be determined to be nearby and concurrent when a UE detects a number of ranging cycles within a predetermined time. The UE may send messages to each initiator UE indicating that the ranging sessions should be combined and the initiator UEs will terminated initiating any further ranging sessions. Combined ranging session may be initiated by the UE and may include all of the participating UEs from the independent ranging sessions. The combined ranging session continues until it is determined that one or more UEs in the combined ranging session are not receiving ranging signals from other UEs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) (e.g., Tx UE) may transmit or receive a first control message indicating a sidelink beam measurement configuration for performing a sidelink beam sweep procedure using a set of transmit beams. The first UE may select a subset of transmit beams from the set of transmit beams for the sidelink beam sweep procedure based on one or more parameters associated with the sidelink beam measurement configuration. The first UE may then transmit, to a second UE (e.g., Rx UE) during the sidelink beam sweep procedure, a set of sidelink reference signals using respective transmit beams of the subset of transmit beams.
