Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to cell recovery techniques. One example method generally includes receiving, at a user-equipment (UE), at least one pilot signal via a secondary cell, receive, via a primary cell, a first message triggering reporting of at least one preferred beam for communication via the secondary cell, determining the preferred beam based on the at least one pilot signal, transmitting, via the primary cell, a report indicating the at least one preferred beam, and communicating data via the secondary cell and via the preferred beam.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE), data from one or more beam pairs of a plurality of beams at least partially concurrently; determining, by the UE, one or more signal parameters for the one or more beam pairs; determining, by the UE, one or more joint quasi co-located (QCL) indicators for the one or more beam pairs and one or more non-joint QCL indicators for the one or more beam pairs; and transmitting, by the UE, a measurement report including the one or more joint QCL indicators and the one or more non-joint QCL indicators. In another aspect, a method of wireless communication includes determining a particular beam or beams for transmitting second data based on the measurement report; and transmitting the second data using the particular beam or beams. In some aspects, a UE may receive an indication of a spatial relation and multiple physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources to which the spatial relation is to be applied; and use the spatial relation to transmit on one or more PUCCH resources of the multiple PUCCH resources. Abstract: The apparatus determines, for a CC, an active TCI state of at least one of a CORESET of a PDCCH when the CORESET is configured on the CC or a PDSCH. In addition, the apparatus determines, based on the determined active TCI state, a default beam on the CC for transmitting at least one of a PUCCH or SRS. Further, the apparatus transmits at least one of the PUCCH or the SRS through the determined default beam on the CC.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which different component carriers (CCs) or bandwidth parts (BWPs) of a system operating according to carrier aggregation may be configured with different transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states. A base station may transmit control information to a user equipment (UE) to activate two or more CCs, and that indicates two or more different sets of TCI states that are activated for the two or more CCs. The control information may be transmitted to the UE in a single MAC-CE. The single MAC-CE to activate different sets of TCI states at CCs or BWPs may allow for a reduced number of MAC-CEs used for conveying the set of active TCI states for the CCS or BWPs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling that configures a channel measurement resource and an interference measurement resource within a same time interval. The UE may transmit a measurement report that indicates a signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) measurement that is generated based on measuring the channel measurement resource and the interference measurement resource. In some cases, the UE may receive a quasi co-location (QCL) relationship indicator that indicates a QCL relationship for the interference measurement resource or the channel measurement resource. The UE may measure the channel measurement resource and the interference measurement resource in accordance with the QCL relationship.

The method further includes selecting a second beam for secondary cell communications prior to receiving a response to the beam failure event, and transmitting or receiving a communication to or from the secondary cell using the selected second beam. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) millimeter wave (mmW) communications of two or more MIMO streams via two or more beams. A sequential technique may be used for configuring MIMO communications, in which analog RF beamforming parameters are determined based on reference signal measurements during a beam sweeping procedure. Then, digital baseband beamforming parameters may be determined and used for baseband processing of two or more MIMO streams. The digital baseband beamforming parameters may include baseband precoding parameters used for transmitting the two or more MIMO streams on the two or more beams, and baseband combiner parameters used for receiving the two or more MIMO streams on the two or more beams.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for beam failure detection and related timing determinations, such as for applying a default beam after beam failure recovery response (BFRR) message. A method by a user equipment (UE) may include detecting failure of a beam associated with a first cell. The detecting can include performing beam failure detection (BFD) of a beam pair link (BPL) associated with the first cell (e.g., secondary cell (Scell)). The first cell can be in carrier aggregation (CA) with a second cell. The UE may send a beam failure recovery request (BFRQ) message on a second cell (e.g., a primary cell (Pcell)). The BFRQ message can include a candidate recovery beam for the first cell. The UE can receive a BFRR message on the second cell and determine a duration from reception of the BFRR message until using a default beam for communications on the first cell.
