Abstract:
Methods and systems for optimizing the utilities of receiver devices in a wireless communication network are disclosed. Precoder design formulations that maximize a minimum worst-case rate or a worst-case sum rate are described for both full base station cooperation and limited base station cooperation scenarios. In addition, optimal equalizers are also selected to optimize the worst-case sum rate.
Abstract:
A computer implemented method for the verification of concurrent software programs wherein the concurrent software program is partitioned into subsets named concurrent trace programs (CTPs) and each of the CTPs is evaluated using a satisfiability-based (SAT) symbolic analysis. By applying the SAT analysis to individual CTPs in isolation the symbolic analysis is advantageously more scalable and efficient.

Abstract:
A method and system for packet transmission in a hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) system. A modulation and a block length for a transmission are determined based on the average mutual information per bit. The average mutual information per bit is computed based on a current channel signal-to-noise ratio and a plurality of previous transmissions, each being transmitted with a respective coded block length, modulation form, and signal-to-noise ratio. A block error rate is computed for the potential block lengths and modulations based on the average mutual information per bit, and a throughput of the current transmission is determined based on the block error rate. The modulation form and the block length of the transmission are determined based on an analysis of the throughput. If the receiver cannot decode the current transmission, the transmitter repeats the computation to determine the modulation and the block length for retransmission.
Abstract:
The present method is for generating a 4-level optical signal and it includes providing a continuous wave CW optical source; modulating the CW optical source with a first intensity modulator driven by a binary electrical signal a n Gbits/s to generate an optical signal; employing a second intensity modulator as a pulse carving modulator that is driven by an RF signal at n GHz thereby generating a 4 level optical signal for subsequent detection by a receiver.
Abstract:
In accordance with exemplary embodiments of the present invention, a content addressable data structure system may include directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) of data content that are addressed using both a user-defined search key and content of data blocks. Internal keys of retention roots of the DAGs may be derived from the user-defined search key while the remaining blocks may be content addressed. As opposed to using a content address, the user may provide the search key when retrieving and deleting DAGs retaining the data content. In addition, the internal keys may be implemented using internal content addressable storage operations, such as applying a hash function and employing a distributed hash table.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for compensating for chromatic dispersion are shown that include receiving an input data signal, applying a filter to the data signal, and outputting a CD compensated signal. Applying the filter includes convolving known filter coefficients with a plurality of delayed versions of the data signal using addition and at least one inverse sign operation or using lookup tables and combining outputs to produce a CD compensated signal.
Abstract:
Optical superchannel methods and systems that couple two or more local oscillators into a single coherent receiver front end to receive multiple optical subcarriers are shown and described. With multiple local oscillators coupled into a single coherent receiver and appropriate optical selective filtering of the superchannel signal, non-neighboring subcarriers may be received by the single coherent optical receiver.
