Abstract: A method of encoding video data comprising: generating coefficients based on digital sample values of the video data; determining a spectral efficiency for a channel; determining a value n based on the spectral efficiency of the channel; generating coefficient vectors, wherein each of the coefficient vectors includes n of the coefficients; determining an amplitude value for a coefficient vector based on a mapping pattern, wherein for each respective allowed coefficient vector in a plurality of allowed coefficient vectors: the mapping pattern maps the respective allowed coefficient vector to a respective amplitude value in a plurality of amplitude values, and the respective amplitude value is adjacent in an n-dimensional space to at least one other amplitude value in the plurality of amplitude values that is adjacent to the respective amplitude value in a monotonic number line of the amplitude values, and modulating an analog signal based on the amplitude values.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a capability message indicating a capability supporting network-side phase noise compensation. The UE may transmit, to the base station, phase tracking reference signals based on transmitting the capability message. In an example, the phase tracking reference signals may include a UE phase noise component which may be associated with a local oscillator of the UE. The UE may receive, from the base station, a compensated downlink transmission that is compensated based on the UE phase noise component. In generating the compensated downlink transmission, the base station may apply a multiplication factor associated with the estimated UE phase noise component to the compensated downlink transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may identify a reference signal sequence (e.g., a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence) based on a cyclic shift associated with a control channel for communications with a second wireless device. For example, the first wireless device may identify the cyclic shift associated with transmitting a message to the second wireless device via the control channel. In another example, the first wireless device may estimate the cyclic shift associated with receiving a message from the second wireless device via the control channel. The first wireless device may then communicate with the second wireless device based on the reference signal sequence. For example, the first wireless device may transmit or receive (e.g., via a shared channel) the reference signal sequence to or from the second wireless device.

The segments are interleaved by mapping a first code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a first resource located at a first time and a first frequency, wherein the first code block segment is associated with a first code block, and mapping a second code block segment of the plurality of code block segments to a second resource based on at least one of the first time or the first frequency of the first resource and a code block proximity parameter, wherein the second code block segment is associated with a second code block different from the first code block. The device then transmits the plurality of interleaved code block segments. Other features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A device generates an estimated size of encoded versions of one or more pictures of video data prior to generating the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. A physical layer of a radio system of the device is configured to send a message to a wireless base station. The message indicates a size value based on the estimated size of the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. The physical layer of the radio system receives an uplink grant notification in response to the message. Based on the uplink grant notification, the physical layer of the radio system sends packets to the wireless base station containing the encoded versions of the one or more pictures.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Beam management procedures may increase communications quality and reliability in wireless networks that support narrow directional beams and high frequencies. Some such beam management procedures utilize continuous beam measurements and adaptive beam switching to maintain a threshold link level between devices. A user equipment (UE) may transmit an indication of a capability to perform a first beam refinement procedure in response to a data transmission and using multiple receive beams. The UE may select a communication beam using a first instance of a second beam refinement procedure, and may receive a data transmission from a base station using the selected beam. Based on receiving the data transmission, the UE may perform the first beam refinement procedure and may skip a second instance of the second beam refinement procedure.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for power saving by detecting empty symbols. In accordance with some implementation, a UE may determine that a data channel is not allocated to it by determining that there is no beam directed to it and there was no prior resource allocation to it. The UE upon such determination may enter sleep mode until the start of the next scheduling unit. This may result in reduction in power consumption compared to entering sleep mode after demodulating and decoding the control channel.
