Abstract: A vehicle exhaust system for allowing passage of exhaust gasses therethrough. The vehicle exhaust system has a first pipe having a first end and a second end. The first end defines an exhaust gas inlet and the second end defines an exhaust gas outlet. The vehicle exhaust system also has a second pipe positioned downstream of the first pipe and has a third end and a fourth end. At least a portion of the second end of first pipe is positioned within the third end of the second pipe defining an overlap between the second end of the first pipe and the third end of the second pipe. The first pipe and the second pipe together define a volume for the exhaust gasses. The volume comprises a first volume passageway between the exhaust gas inlet and the exhaust gas outlet and a second volume passageway defined by the overlap of the second pipe and the first pipe and having an inlet for exhaust gasses into the second volume passageway and an outlet from the second volume passageway positioned axially upstream of inlet. The inlet is positioned downstream of the exhaust gas outlet

Abstract: A damper with inner and outer tubes and a piston slidably disposed within the inner tube to define first and second working chambers. A fluid transport chamber is positioned between the inner and outer tubes and a collector chamber is positioned outside the outer tube. First and second external control valves are positioned in fluid communication with the collector chamber. An intake valve assembly, abutting one end of the inner tube, includes first and second intake valve bodies with intake passages and intake valves. A first intermediate chamber is positioned between the first and second intake valve bodies and an accumulation chamber is positioned between the second intake valve body and a closed end of the outer tube. The fluid transport chamber, first intermediate chamber, and accumulation chamber are arranged in fluid communication with the collector chamber. The intake valves control fluid flow between the accumulation chamber and second working chamber.

Abstract: A system for monitoring a vehicle component through a mobile device is provided. The mobile device includes an application configured to receive a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) indicative of a vehicle with which the vehicle component is associated. The application is configured to receive operational data corresponding to the vehicle component based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The application is configured to evaluate an operational status of the vehicle component based on the operational data. The application is configured to generate a diagnostic code corresponding to the operational status of the vehicle component. The diagnostic code refers to a suggested action in response to the operational status. The application is also configured to track usage of the application by a user after generating the diagnostic code. The application is further configured to generate a reward based on the tracked usage of the application by the user.

Abstract: An exhaust gas heat recovery system includes a housing assembly, a valve assembly and a heat exchanger. The valve assembly is disposed within the housing assembly and includes a shaft and a plate. The plate is rotatable between a first position whereat exhaust gas flow through a first fluid passageway is allowed and exhaust gas flow through a second exhaust gas passageway is prevented, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the second fluid passageway is allowed and exhaust gas flow through the first gas passageway is prevented. The heat exchanger assembly includes a heater core having a working fluid circulating therein. The working fluid is in thermal communication with fluid in the heater core. The housing assembly includes first and second shells attached to each other at a joint. An axis of the shaft being at the joint of the first and second shells.

Abstract: A shock absorber includes a pressure tube forming a working chamber. A reserve tube is concentric with and radially outward from the pressure tube. A baffle tube is positioned radially outward from the pressure tube. A reservoir chamber is formed between the reserve tube and the baffle tube. A piston is attached to a piston rod and slidably disposed within the pressure tube. A rod guide is attached to the pressure tube and supports the piston rod. An electromechanical valve is positioned within the rod guide. A plurality of longitudinal passageways are defined by the baffle tube and at least one of the pressure tube and the reserve tube for transporting fluid between the electromechanical valve and the reservoir chamber.

Abstract: A damper includes a pressure tube and a piston. The piston defines a rebound chamber and a compression chamber. The damper further includes a piston rod that reciprocates with the piston. The damper includes a sealing ring slidably disposed around the piston rod. The sealing ring includes a locking mechanism adapted to lock the sealing ring around the piston rod. The sealing ring also includes an inner surface having a plurality of concave surfaces and a plurality of convex surfaces. Each of the plurality of concave surfaces is located adjacent to a corresponding convex surface of the plurality of convex surfaces. The sealing ring further includes an upper surface extending between the outer and inner surfaces. The upper surface defines a plurality of channels. The sealing ring further includes grooves and bleeds for tuning energy dissipated by the damper during rebound stroke to help reduction of noise.

Abstract: A valve assembly for an exhaust system of a vehicle. The valve assembly includes a housing, a valve flap and a mass damper. The housing defines an inlet, an outlet, and a longitudinally extending exhaust gas passageway in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The valve flap is disposed in the housing and is rotatable between a first position restricting exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway is less restricted. The mass damper is disposed within the exhaust gas passageway. The mass damper is attached to the valve flap and comprise of a material having a high density. The mass damper is shielded from the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas passageway when the valve flap is in the second position.
