    Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, products, and methods for wireless communication. A communication system may include a user equipment (UE) that receives a configuration for contention-free random access (CFRA) and a configuration for contention-based random access (CBRA). The UE determines a first random access resource. The first random access resource maps to one or more beams from a target base station. The UE determines a beam quality associated with the first random access resource. The UE initiates a random access request using the CFRA when the first random access resource is a contention-free resource, and the beam quality of the first random access resource is above a threshold beam quality. The UE initiates the random access request using the CBRA when the first random access resource is the contention-free resource, and the beam quality of the first random access resource is below the threshold beam quality.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may identify an uplink/downlink (UL/DL) configuration that defines subframe configuration options for each subframe of a frame. For example, the UL/DL configuration may establish parameters for time division duplexing (TDD) operation between a base station and a user equipment (UE). The wireless device (e.g., the UE or base station) may determine a constraint for a subframe of the frame based on the UL/DL configuration and then determine an adaptive subframe configuration based on the constraint. The adaptive subframe configuration may include one or several downlink symbol periods and one or several uplink symbol periods. The wireless device may then communicate during the subframe according to the adaptive subframe configuration rather than the original UL/DL configuration; and, because the adaptive subframe may be constrained by the identified UL/DL configuration, the communication during the subframe may avoid disruption to UEs.

    Abstract: A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided for wireless communication at a UE. The apparatus switches from a first, active BWP to a second, active BWP. Then, the apparatus measures a first radio link quality of a configured CORESET TCI or a beam failure detection RS upon switching to the second, active BWP. For example, the apparatus may switch the active BWP based on detecting an expiration of a BWP inactivity timer. The apparatus may then determine based on a threshold radio link quality whether to perform a measurement of a second radio link quality of a beam failure recovery candidate resource set or to continue to monitor the configured CORESET TCI in the second, active BWP.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides an example method and an apparatus for transmitting synchronization signals from an eNB with a different subcarrier spacing from rest of transmissions. That is, a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) may be transmitted using a first subcarrier spacing, a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), and/or a reference signal (RS) may be transmitted with a second subcarrier spacing, and other transmissions may be made using a third subcarrier spacing that is different from at least one of the first or second subcarrier spacing. Further, the order of symbols mapped to the synchronization signals may be reversed or otherwise modified within a transmission subframe.

Certain aspects provide transmitting data using a first RAT and second RAT to the UE based on an assumed size of a first portion of a buffer at the UE assumed allocated for storing data received by the UE using the first RAT and an assumed size of a second portion of the buffer assumed allocated for storing data received by the UE using the second RAT. The size of the first portion is based on a first number of resources the UE is capable of using for communicating and a second number of resources the UE is configured or allocated to use. The size of the second portion is based on an overall size of the buffer and the size of the first portion.

In certain aspects a method includes identifying resources, within an uplink short burst (ULSB) region within a transmission time interval (TTI), for transmitting at least a portion of uplink control information (UCI), the UCI including at least one of one scheduling request (SR) bit and one or more acknowledgment (ACK) bits for acknowledging or negatively acknowledging downlink transmissions.
