Abstract: A device for the thermal treatment of material comprises a housing having a heatable housing jacket, which surrounds a treatment chamber and forms a rotationally symmetrical treatment surface extending in an axial direction, and a drivable rotor, which is arranged in the treatment chamber and extends coaxially. The rotor comprises a shaft, arranged in a manner distributed over the circumference of which are spreading elements. The device also comprises a condensation space, in which a condenser is formed and into which gaseous material components escaping from the material during the thermal treatment can pass, a condensate outlet for discharging the material components condensed in the condensation space, and a vacuum connection, which is fluidically connected to the condensation space. The vacuum connection is arranged in a region of the housing that lies downstream of the treatment surface, as viewed in the transport direction of the material.

Abstract: A device and method for producing a continuous strip-shaped composite material including a base material of metal, which is unwound in the form of a metal strip by a first coil-unwinding apparatus, and at least one cladding material of metal, which is unwound in the form of a metal strip by a second coil-unwinding apparatus. The metal base and cladding metal strips unwound by the respective coil-unwinding apparatuses are brought together in the hot state of at least 720 degrees Celsius. The unwound base and cladding metal strips brought toward each other and are joined by hot-rolling such that a single continuous strip-shaped composite material is thereby formed by roll cladding such that the composite material includes the base material and the cladding material.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cooling device 100 for cooling a metallic product and a method for its operation. The cooling device 100 has at least one cooling bar 110 with a plurality N of spraying regions I, II, III which are adjacent in pairs and which each have at least one spray nozzle 130 for spraying a coolant onto the metallic product. Valves are provided for individually adjusting the pressure or the volume flow of the coolant 300 in each of the spraying regions. The valves 120 and a pump for the coolant are controlled individually with the aid of a control device 150. In order to improve the application of coolant to the metallic product, the invention provides that at least one partition wall is provided for the at least one cooling bar of the cooling device according to the invention to divide the interior of the cooling bar into at least two chambers, each of the spraying regions being assigned to a different one of the chambers. The partition wall is shaped at least approximately in accordance with the course of the temperature distribution in a predetermined width section of the metallic product before it enters the cooling device, and the partition wall is arranged in the cooling bar over this width section.

Abstract: A method for operating a roll stand for the stepped rolling of metal strip is described. The metal strip is initially fed into a roll stand on the infeed side, where it is step-rolled. This creates a leading and a trailing section of the metal strip, each with different thicknesses. After the roll stand, the step-rolled metal strip initially passes through an outfeed-side strip accumulator before it is wound into a coil by an upcoiler. The outfeed-side reel is controlled to a constant strip tension. To keep the outfeed-side strip tension sufficiently constant even in the case of rapid changes in the size of the roll gap and the resulting rapid changes in thickness in the rolled metal strip the control of the strip tension with the aid of the upcoiler is supplemented by a position control for a roller unit in the outfeed-side strip accumulator.
