    摘要: The outlet of a tundish communicates with the inlet of a continuous-casting mold. Two or more immersible pouring tubes are mounted for movement in a path in such a manner that one pouring tube communicates with the inlet and the outlet, while at least one other pouring tube is in standby position. The last mentioned pouring tube may be moved to operating position and simultaneously the pouring tube previously in operating position is displaced therefrom.

    摘要: In continuously casting steel billets wherein the mold is oscillated up and down substantially according to a sine function the mean speed of descent of the mold is selected so that the maximum speed of withdrawal of the casting from the descending mold during not less than about 55 percent, and the minimum speed during not more than about 80 percent, of the time required for the complete descent of the mold is below the speed of the mold. Further, the level of liquid steel in the mold is preferably kept constant by adjusting the withdrawal speed of the casting in accordance with the rate of delivery of liquid steel into the mold; if the withdrawal speed of the casting exceeds the desired maximum or falls below the desired minimum, further delivery of liquid steel to the mold is stopped.

    摘要: A method of controlling the cooling rate of narrow side walls of plate molds during continuous casting, wherein the narrow side walls are fixedly clamped between the wide side walls, prior to start of the casting the hollow casting compartment between the narrow side walls is provided with a casting taper which converges in the direction of travel of the cast strand or casting and which is accommodated to the quality of the steel and the width of the strand. Prior to the start of the casting operation the casting taper is additionally adjusted to a reference value which corresponds to the contemplated casting speed and/or casting temperature, and upon deviation of the casting speed and/or casting temperature during the casting operation the casting taper is changed in accordance with reference values corresponding to such fluctuating or changing casting parameters.

    摘要: A method of and apparatus for controlling the cooling of a continuously cast strand of metal at individual cooling zone sections after departing from a continuous casting mold. According to the invention, during casting there is integrated the speed of the individual strand sections over the travel time and there is simultaneously fixed the time spent by a strand section in the cooling zone to determine by means of a computer the amount of cooling agent applied to the individual strand sections. Such value is compared with reference quantities and there is determined the residual amount of cooling agent which is still to be applied to such strand section. As a function of such residual amount of cooling agent after a time-displacement determined by the computer there is selectively changed the length of the individual cooling zone sections, the total length of the cooling zone, or both the length of the individual cooling zone sections and the total length of the cooling zone, to thus maintain constant the residence time of the individual strand sections in the total cooling zone.
