Abstract:
Disclosed are cosmetic and dermatological compositions containing hydrocortisone or a derivative thereof, a glycol and a thickening or gelling agent, and methods of making and using them.
Abstract:
The solubility in solvent media, notably alcoholic media, of the beta-hydroxy acids (“BHAs”), notably the chemical skin peeling agent salicylic acid, is markedly enhanced by solubilizing same in the presence of at least one alpha-hydroxy acid (“AHA”); higher potency, more concentrated BHA skin peel products are thus formulated.

Topically applicable cosmetic/dermatological compositions well suited for the UV-photoprotection of human skin, hair and/or scalp, contain (a) an effective UV-photoprotecting amount of at least one UV-A and/or UV-B sunscreen and (b) an amount of a methyl methacrylate crosspolymer effective to, on application of the composition, reduce the greasiness/diffusion and improve the dryness thereof, formulated into (c) a topically applicable, cosmetically/dermatologically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor.
Abstract:
The present application relates to novel oil-in-water emulsions comprising i) at least one specific 1,3,5-triazine derivative and ii) at least one polyalkyl-polyethersiloxane carrying polyoxyalkylene groups grafted onto the main silicone chain; with the proviso that the said emulsions do not comprise cetylstearyltrimethylammonium chloride. Another subject-matter of the present invention is the use of such emulsions in the manufacture of cosmetic or dermatological compositions intended for the photoprotection of the skin and/or hair and/or other keratinous substances against ultraviolet radiation, in particular solar radiation.
