Abstract:
Disclosed is a upstream data transmission method in a gigabit Ethernet-passive optical network (GE-PON) system. In the GE-PON system including an optical line termination having a scheduler and optical network units connected to the optical line termination, the optical line termination receives bandwidth allocation request signals from the optical network units at a start of a first cycle, allocates transmission bandwidths to the respective optical network units in accordance with the bandwidth allocation request signals, and transmits the allocated transmission bandwidths to the respective optical network units before a second cycle that follows the first cycle.
Abstract:
A MAC (Medium Access Control) control block for controlling transmission of data between a plurality of MAC clients and a plurality of MACs in an Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is provided. The MAC control block includes the plurality of MAC clients and the plurality of MACs associated with the MAC clients for forming a frame for data transmission; a plurality of optical multipoint (OMP) blocks connected between the MAC clients and the MACs for implementing a multipoint control protocol (MPCP); and a multipoint gating control block for controlling the OMP blocks so that when any one of the OMP blocks is transmitting the data, the other OMP blocks are prevented from transmitting data.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving signaling information to transfer Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data using a multi-stream mode in providing an ESG in a digital broadcasting system the method including collecting ESG data to be transmitted, setting a number of IP streams to transmit the ESG data in order to transmit the ESG data in a multi-stream mode, generating partitioning information used for each of the IP streams, the partitioning information including at least one partitioning rule to partition the ESG data into the IP streams and at least one partitioning value for each of the partitioning rule, in which the partitioning rule includes at least one among a service ID, a service genre, an absolute time, a session type, and a profiling type defined by a provider, and the at least one partitioning value includes at least one of a start value and an end value according to the partitioning rule, and transmitting the ESG data, which has been partitioned according to the partitioning information, through the IP streams.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for efficiently receiving Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data for a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) broadcast service in a DVB-H reception terminal. When ESG data to which session partitioning rules are applied is received in a multiple-stream mode, session-by-session rules are detected. On the basis of the rules, sessions in which actual ESG data is carried are classified by roles required to provide the broadcast service. The associated ESG data from the sessions is acquired and stored. Since ESG data can be efficiently received by providing detailed guidelines for receiving the ESG data based on a session partitioning rule, a reception scheme of the DVB-H reception terminal can be significantly improved.
Abstract:
A method for providing a broadcast service to a terminal by a network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. The method includes generating Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI) indicative of information related to a broadcast service requested by the terminal; generating mapping information for information on the broadcast service in an Internet Protocol (IP) platform from which the terminal is currently receiving the broadcast service, and for information on a broadcast service corresponding to the broadcast service in IP platforms other than the IP platform; and including the generated mapping information in an IP/Medium Access Control (MAC) Information Notification Table (INT) of the PSI/SI, and delivering the INT to the terminal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) for roaming users in a Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. A network entity generates a normal ESG indicating services available for local users in a network, and a special ESG indicating services available for roaming users in the network, the roaming users entering into the network from a neighboring network of the network, and transmits over at least one of an interactive network and a broadcast network the normal ESG and the special ESG to a terminal in the network. The terminal, or a roaming user, in the network receives the normal ESG and the special ESG, and performs a user roaming procedure or a service roaming procedure based on the special ESG.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for enabling a terminal to continuously receive an on-going service even when the terminal moves out of a serving cell or a home network in a DVB-H CBMS system are provided, in which a network controls a handover, designates a target cell for the terminal if the terminal is to perform the handover on an interactive channel, and when needed, processes the handover over an interactive network.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for encoding additional ESG information and decoding a new version of an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) in a terminal, when information for the new version ESG is transmitted by a digital video broadcasting system. When an information field is added in relation to a fragment of an old version to construct the new version ESG, an independent fragment of the new version for the information field is added without modifying the old version fragment. A connection relation for the reference to an associated old version fragment is specified within the new version fragment.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for handling an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) transmission error in a digital video broadcasting system, including a Service Application (SA) entity for receiving a file repair request message from a terminal after broadcasting an ESG from a Service Management (SM) entity to the terminal and, when the file repair request message is a request for the ESG, providing the SM entity with the file repair request message and an address of the terminal; a logical ESG aggregator for generating the ESG within the SM entity interpreting the request message and determining whether to retransmit the ESG to the terminal, and when determining to retransmit the ESG, the logical ESG aggregator delivering, ESG metadata and the address of the terminal to an interactive server for transmitting the ESG within the SM entity. The interactive server transmits the ESG metadata to the terminal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for supporting smooth and seamless handover of a terminal receiving digital broadcasting in a digital broadcasting system. A handover method by a network node includes the steps of receiving a handover proposal message from a terminal, the handover proposal message containing a time for signal quality evaluation, a service ID, and a cell ID, the terminal receiving a broadcasting service from a serving cell; evaluating signal qualities of candidate cells providing a service corresponding to the service ID; calculating a handover candidate parameter based on a result of evaluation of the signal qualities of the candidate cells, the handover candidate parameter indicating time available for handover with regard to respective candidate cells; and transmitting the handover candidate parameter to the terminal.
