Abstract: The invention discloses systems and methods for enhancing the sound of vocal utterances of interest in an acoustically cluttered environment. The system generates canceling signals (sound suppression signals) for an ambient audio environment and identifies and characterizes desired vocal signals and hence a vocal stream or multiple streams of interest. Each canceling signal, or collectively, the noise canceling stream, is processed so that signals associated with the desired audio stream or streams are dynamically removed from the canceling stream. This modified noise canceling stream is combined (electronically or acoustically) with the ambient to effectuate a destructive interference of all ambient sound except for the removed audio streams, thus “enhancing” the vocal streams with respect to the unwanted ambient sound. Cepstral analysis may be used to identify a fundamental frequency associated with a voiced human utterance. Filtering derived from that analysis removes the voiced utterance from the canceling signal.

Abstract: The invention is an exercise apparatus providing an advanced level of surfboard paddling simulation and muscle development. The design includes a specialized platform, unique hand harnesses, and cable systems with mechanical advantage and mass moment of inertia mechanisms, piston pumps, cable spools, and elastic elements. They allow the user to simulate paddling in an alternating or simultaneous sequence at any speed while strong elastic tension resists the user's thrust strokes, but during paddling return strokes the user feels no elastic tension or resistance. The design also prompts the user to engage and strengthen all dorsal muscles to maintain an appropriately arched body position while paddling.

A computer-implemented method of the present invention generally includes binding a primary virtual server to a set of URLs, each URL having an associated real server and receiving a request from a client for connection to the primary virtual server. Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for removing acetylene from a gasoeus mixture comprising hydrogen, methane, ethane, ethylene, acetylene, propane, propylene, butane, butenes, butadiene, and other C4 or higher hydrocarbons. The method of the invention utilizes a front-end acetylene removal unit (“ARU”) located after a charge gas compressor in which acetylene is selectively reduced. The method of the invention achieves selective reduction of acetylene by using a proprietary Chevron Phillips E series palladium based catalyst. The method of the invention also utilizes a novel startup procedure, a novel emergency shutdown procedure, a novel maximum cool down procedure, and a novel carbon monoxide monitoring procedure.
