Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site, particularly an abdominal or peritoneal site, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the dressing may comprise a tissue interface formed from a first layer of a liquid-impermeable material and a plurality of manifolding bubbles formed as part of the first layer. In some embodiments, the tissue interface may further comprise a second layer of a permeable material, where the manifolding bubbles are formed as closed cells between the first layer and the second layer. The tissue interface may also include a third layer of liquid-impermeable material positioned adjacent to the second layer, where one or more fluid passageways may be formed between the second layer and third layer for delivering a therapeutic fluid to the tissue site.

A connection pad is positioned at the opening and configured to couple the dressing to a tube. The connection pad includes an outer ring coupled to the drape and a center dimple extending away from the drape and defining a volume between the center dimple and a plane defined by the outer ring. The dressing also includes an absorbent manifolding structure positioned between the center dimple and the manifold layer and formed to substantially match a shape of the volume.

Abstract: Dressings for closing an opening through a surface of a tissue site are described. The dressing includes a cover adapted to form a sealed space over the opening and a bolster. The bolster is adapted to be positioned adjacent the opening and includes a first plurality of holes. The holes have an average width to length ratio causing the plurality of holes to collapse in a direction substantially perpendicular to the opening. Systems, apparatuses, kits and methods including and/or using the dressing for closing the opening are also described.

Abstract: A therapy system for treating a tissue site with negative-pressure therapy and/or fluid instillation therapy in response to information received from a diagnostic module is disclosed. In some embodiments, the therapy system may include a dressing, a negative-pressure source, a container, and a diagnostic module. The dressing may be adapted to be placed on the tissue site, and the negative-pressure source may be adapted to be fluidly coupled to the dressing. The container may be adapted to be fluidly coupled to the dressing and to the negative-pressure source and to receive fluid from the tissue site. The diagnostic module may be adapted to be exposed to gas associated with the fluid from the tissue site. The diagnostic module may comprise a sensor configured to detect a condition of the tissue site and to generate an output based on the detected condition. The sensor may be configured to detect a volatile organic compound. In some embodiments, the diagnostic module may be positioned on the container.

Abstract: Dressings for tissue treatment with negative pressure and methods of using the dressings for tissue treatment with negative pressure, which may comprise a dressing having at least three layers assembled in a stacked relationship. The first layer may comprise or consist essentially of a polymer film having a plurality of fluid restrictions that are normally unstrained or closed. The second layer may comprise a manifold, and the third layer may comprise or consist essentially of a polymer drape. A fourth layer, which may be coupled to the first layer opposite the second layer, may comprise or consist essentially of a silicone gel having a plurality of apertures. In some examples, the plurality of apertures in the fourth layer may be registered with the fluid restrictions of the first layer.

Abstract: A negative pressure wound therapy device, kit, and method are provided for improved treatment of wounds on complex three-dimensional anatomies. The device includes a conformable manifold made of a porous and permeable material with a pattern of cuts designed to transform the manifold from a relaxed, planar state to a pliable three-dimensional state when extended along the lateral axis. The kit further may include a wound interface layer, an adhesive, breathable drape, and a pneumatic connection to a negative pressure wound therapy device. Finally, a method for treating wounds using reduced pressure and the presently disclosed kit is provided.
