    摘要: A cutting tool for attachment to the leading area of a base is provided. The cutting tool includes a holder base having two substantially parallel cutting teeth extending from the holder base, the cutting teeth each having a cutting edge and an opening between the teeth. The cutting teeth define first and second cutting paths. The cutting teeth impact and cut asphalt shingles, and funneling surfaces of the teeth funnel the cut shingle material toward and through the opening, and into the path of the rear cutting member which cuts the material a second time. Thus, asphalt shingles are processed more efficiently, thereby creating less frictional heat and avoiding melting of the asphalt shingles.

    摘要: A retainer sleeve for retaining a rotary bit includes a longitudinally slit cylindrical portion defining a longitudinal axis, and at least four circumferentially spaced tabs deformed generally radially inwardly from the cylindrical portion. The sleeve is formed from a sheet of spring steel having a thickness of at least 0.048 inches. Each tab comprises a connector section inclined from the cylindrical portion in a generally radially inward and longitudinally rearward direction and a keeper section extending rearwardly from a free end of the connector section. The keeper section includes a first flat surface facing the axis and oriented parallel thereto, and a second flat surface facing rearwardly and oriented perpendicularly to the axis.

    摘要: A stump cutter includes a rotary drum, holders mounted on the drum, and cutting bits mounted in respective bores of each holder for rotation relative thereto. Each cutting bit includes a shank having a pocket formed in a front end thereof in which the cutting tip is brazed, wherein an outer lip of the shank tightly grips an outer side surface of the cutting tip with a thermal shrink fit. The cutting tip includes a circular cutting edge formed by the intersection between portions of the front surface and side surface of the cutting tip, which surface portions intersect at a ninety degree angle. The front surface of the cutting tip includes raised radial ribs spaced circumferentially therearound for inducing rotation of the cutting bit during a cutting operation.

    摘要: A stump grinding tool includes a rotary cutting wheel having a pair of side surfaces and an outer peripheral surface. Cutting assemblies are mounted on the cutting wheel, each cutting assembly including first and second pockets disposed on respective side surfaces of the wheel. Each pocket includes a leading through-hole and a trailing through-hole aligned with respective leading end trailing through-holes of the other pocket for receiving a pair of cutting teeth. Each tooth extends through aligned through-holes of the pocket and cutting wheel in mutually opposite directions, wherein cutting elements of the teeth are disposed adjacent respective ones of the side surfaces. Each tooth is fixed by a nut threaded thereon such that each tooth and associated nut functions to clamp both of the first and second pockets against the respective side-surfaces of the cutting wheel.

    摘要: A tool pick assembly and a tool and block assembly are disclosed. A sleeve is positioned about the shank to allow rotation of the tool pick and also friction fit with the block. The sleeve is stepped in complement to the shape of the surface of the shank of the tool pick and the shape of the surface of the bore in the tool holder and extends substantially all of the length, optionally all of the length, of the stepped bore in the block to reduce or prevent dust and fines from entering and wearing the bore surface. When assembled, the stepped sleeve and complementarily shaped shank of the tool pick each do not extend past the rear surface of the bore to mitigate or prevent shank deformation from impact during use.

    摘要: Tool bit for non-rotatable mounting in a bore of a holder has a cutting head, a shoulder and a shank arranged axially along an axis of the tool bit. A groove is disposed circumferentially about a portion of the shank, and a compression band seated therein. Two or more grooves on the shank can include a non-metallic compression band and an optional o-ring. The compression bands/o-ring protrude past the outermost surface of the shank and, when the tool bit is positioned in a bore of a holder or sleeve, cause an outermost surface of the shank to be in non-contact with an inner diameter surface of the mounting bore and seal the space between the shank and the inner diameter surface of the bore to help prevent moisture and dust encountered during operation from getting between the tool and the holder.
