摘要： A road grading pick includes a cutting head, a shank, a shoulder at a transition between the cutting head and the shank, and a polygonal-shaped washer or an oval-shaped washer. The shank is positioned in an opening of the washer to position the washer along a longitudinal length of the shank between a rearward end of the shank and the rearward facing surface of the shoulder. In a preinstalled position, the washer compresses a friction retainer on the shank of the road grading pick to facilitate seating of the road grading pick in a blade of a road grading apparatus. In an installed position on an adapter board for a moldboard of road grading equipment, the friction retainer is no longer in the opening of the washer and the washer prevents washer rotation and shields an underlying mounting surface while allowing rotation of the road grading pick.

摘要： A stump cutter includes a rotary drum, holders mounted on the drum, and cutting bits mounted in respective bores of each holder for rotation relative thereto. Each cutting bit includes a shank having a pocket formed in a front end thereof in which the cutting tip is brazed, wherein an outer lip of the shank tightly grips an outer side surface of the cutting tip with a thermal shrink fit. The cutting tip includes a circular cutting edge formed by the intersection between portions of the front surface and side surface of the cutting tip, which surface portions intersect at a ninety degree angle. The front surface of the cutting tip includes raised radial ribs spaced circumferentially therearound for inducing rotation of the cutting bit during a cutting operation.

摘要： An assembly is disclosed including a holder block, a cutting pick, and an optional hollow sleeve, wherein the shank of the cutting pick is inserted into the holder block or, where present, into the hollow sleeve. When assembled, surfaces of the components meet at an interface. At least one of the first interface and the second interface includes one or more sets of wear elements including cemented carbide bodies press fit into recesses in the forwardly oriented surfaces meeting at the interfaces. The wear elements mitigate direct contact between the opposing surfaces of the components at the interfaces and prevents excessive wear from repetitive impact because the harder wear elements, e.g., cemented carbide, are contact points between the opposing surfaces of the components at the interfaces. A machine incorporating the assembly and a method of manufacturing the assembly are also disclosed, particularly a machine for mining, excavating, tunneling, road planing and/or construction.

摘要： A hand tool which features a self-aligning recessed seating feature for easy installation of retaining clips onto the groove of the shank of mining and trenching picks. The location and orientation toward the first end of the body of the tool of the recessed seating feature allows for easy installation from either the left or right side of the holder. The tool includes two prongs located at the same end of the tool as the recessed seating feature. The end surfaces of the two prongs correspond in shape and/or orientation to the contact surfaces of a retaining clip to improve removal of retaining clips from the groove of the shank of mining and trenching picks.

摘要： A cutting bit includes a tool pick having a head and a shank, and a cutting tip having a body, a cap extending frontwardly from the body, and a base extending rearwardly from the body. The base defines an outer diameter of the cutting tip and a substantially flat rear surface at the rear of the cutting tip. A post extends axially frontwardly from a front surface of the head of the tool pick. A cavity extends axially frontwardly into the base from the rear surface of the cutting tip, the cavity having a diameter equal to or less than about 40% of the outer diameter of the cutting tip. When the cutting tip is mounted to the tool pick, the post is received into the cavity and a portion of the front surface of the tool pick mates with a portion of the rear surface of the cutting tip.

摘要： A stump grinding device includes a wheel having an outer peripheral edge in which a plurality of recesses are formed. Disposed in each recess is a plurality of cutting units each including a block affixed to a floor of the recess, and a bit mounted in the block. Each bit includes a hard tip disposed at a front end thereof. The bits of some of the peripheral cutting units are rotatable relative to their respective blocks, with the hard tips thereof being generally pointed. The bits of others of the peripheral cutting units are non-rotatable to their respective blocks, with the hard tips thereof forming elongated cutting edges. The peripheral cutting units are spaced from leading and trailing ends of the respective recesses to provide spaces for the passage of cuttings.
