The dynamoelectric machine includes a three-phase stator winding with a rectifier assembly electrically connected to the stator winding. The rectifier assembly includes an end frame having at least one negative diode contained therein and a positive heat sink which has at least one positive diode disposed therein. Connecting the negative diodes and positive diodes is a terminal assembly. The terminal assembly includes one or more electrically conductive and heat dissipative straps. The straps electrically connect one or more negative diodes and one or more positive diodes. Also disclosed is a method for dissipating heat from a rectifier of a dynamoelectric machine.

Each opening has an edge that is comprised of first and second frame surfaces that intersect. The first frame surface is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the end frame and the second frame surface is inclined or slanted so as to be located at an angle to the first frame surface. The cover is a one-piece part formed of plastic material and has a plurality of circumferentially spaced and axially extending latch arms. The cover is attached to the end frame by pushing the latch arms into the openings in the end frame. As this occurs, the latch arms are sprung or forced radially outwardly and they subsequently spring back to cause slanted surfaces on the latch arms to tightly engage the slanted surfaces on the end frame and to cause other surfaces on the latch arms to tightly engage the first frame surfaces.

An alternator drive clutch limits alternator speed and prevents belt slippage through the use of specially designed and oriented centrifugal weights. Each weight is pivoted to the alternator shaft inside of a drum wall on the pulley and asymmetrically oriented so that rapid rotation pivots a friction pad on the weight progressively away from the drum wall. Acting in opposition, tension springs pull the pads toward the drum wall. An equilibrium of pad to drum wall slippage is reached such that the alternator does not rotate above a safe speed, but turns one-to-one with the pulley at low speeds. At any speed, high acceleration or deceleration can cause the pads to slip before the belt slips on the pulley, preventing belt chirp.
