Abstract: An optical deflector includes: a light transmitting portion through which a light passes; and a pair of electrodes arranged to oppose to each other with the light transmitting portion interposed therebetween. The light transmitting portion is a transparent ion conductor made of a single crystal or polycrystal. The pair of electrodes apply a predetermined voltage to the light transmitting portion to move ions inside the transparent ion conductor so as to change a traveling direction of the light passing through the light transmitting portion.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a magnetic sensor includes a first sensor part. The first sensor part includes a first magnetic member, a first counter magnetic member, and a first magnetic element including one or a plurality of first extension parts. The first extension part includes a first magnetic layer, a first counter magnetic layer, and a first nonmagnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes a first portion, a first counter portion, and a first middle portion. The first middle portion is between the first portion and the first counter portion. The first nonmagnetic layer is between the first counter magnetic layer and at least a portion of the first middle portion. An electrical resistance of the first magnetic element has first to third values when first to third magnetic fields are applied to the first magnetic element. The first value is greater than the second and third values.

Abstract: The present invention suppresses an adverse effect caused when an additional gas such as water vapor is mixed in a sample gas or the like that is subjected to gas measurement. In an embodiment of the present invention, in gas measurement for analyzing sensor output signals obtained by alternately supplying a sample gas and a reference gas to a sensor element while alternately switching between the sample gas and the reference gas, the sample gas and the reference gas pass through a humidity equilibration device partitioned by a water vapor permeable membrane, and then are supplied to the sensor element. As a result, since both gases have substantially the same value of humidity at the time of being supplied to the sensor element, influences of water vapor are substantially cancelled out in signals output from the sensor element by the alternate supply of the sample gas and the reference gas.

Abstract: The invention provides a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing agent that is capable of sustainably releasing off nitrogenous gases in the air at normal temperature and safe to handle and a nitrogenous gas sustained releaser composed of the same as well as a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing method, respiratory equipment, a package and a nitrogenous gas sustained releasing apparatus using said sustained releaser. The nitrogenous gas sustained releasing agent contains a layered double hydroxide having nitrite ions (NO2−) and/or nitrate ions (NO3−) included between layers. The nitrogenous gas sustained releaser composed of the sustained releasing agent is exposed to a gas containing carbon dioxide and water vapor to induce any one or more processes of sustained release of nitrous acid, self-decomposition of nitrous acid, oxidization/reduction of nitrous acid, and reduction of nitrite ions/nitrate ions thereby sustainably releasing off nitrogenous gases.
