A transfix roller is adapted for use with a thin walled image receiving member in an indirect printer. The transfix roller is centrally supported to present a more uniform pressure profile in the nip formed with the image receiving member. An interference fit between the central shaft and the roller sleeve enables the transfix roller to be made without an additional process to secure the shaft to the sleeve.

A printing device is configured to adjust the angle of a metering blade within a predetermined range of angles to compensate for wear in the blade over time or for other causes of inconsistency. The angle of the metering blade is selected by a controller which operates an actuator to move a moveable member to adjust the angle of the metering blade and regulate the thickness of a release agent layer on a moving imaging member.

A solid or phase change inkjet ink incorporating a polar acidic wax is described. The use of polar waxes as an ink additive improves the polarity of the ink and adhesion of the ink to paper. A method for applying the solid or phase change ink incorporating an acidic polar wax additive to form an image is also described.

A scratch-off document may include a substrate bearing a toner image and a scratch-off layer covering the printed content. The scratch-off layer may include a mass of a first solid ink and a mass of a second solid ink printed over the first solid ink in a distraction pattern. The toner image is formed of a toner that adheres to the substrate, while the scratch-off layer is made of a wax-based or other solid ink that may be removed from the substrate by scratching without removing the toner image. The distraction pattern includes varying pile heights that distract a viewer from any pile height variations that may exist in the toner image.

The present disclosure describes a system and method for controlling the post-marking heaters and ink spreading nip rollers employed for spreading the ink dots on the media web to provide the desired image quality. The technique employs a sensor for sensing single pixel linewidth and showthru sensor to sense showthru of the ink. The sensor outputs are combined with the temperature and pressure values of the ink spreading nips to provide an error signal to a PID controller for controlling the nip pressure and heater temperature.

Exemplary embodiments provide a phase change ink composition including at least a first semi-crystalline material having a high amorphous content; and at least a second semi-crystalline material having a high crystalline content, such that the phase change ink has a viscosity ranging from about 0.1 cps to about 15 cps at a temperature ranging from about 60° C. to about 145° C. and the phase change ink composition has excellent robustness when forming images or printing on a printing substrate.

A thin wall ink image receiving member enables the ink image receiving member to reach operational temperatures from a cold state more quickly than image receiving members used in previously known printers. The thin wall image receiving member includes at least one annular support member fixedly mounted against the inner surface of the cylindrical wall to enable the image receiving member to provide adequate pressure in a nip formed with a transfix roller to transfer an ink image from the image receiving member to media in the nip.
