    摘要： A printing apparatus/method includes at least one processor, at least one printing engine, and at least one graphic user interface all operatively (directly or indirectly) connected to each other. The graphic user interface has at least one display and at least one user input device. The display provides at least one menu having at least one user selectable parameter of the printing engine. The display provides at least one linear scale bar representing a range of values to which the selectable parameter can be set. The display provides at least two different graphic icons along the linear scale. The graphic icons conceptually represent different performance characteristics that the printing apparatus will have when the selectable parameter is set to different values along the range of values represented on the linear scale. The display can also provide numerical performance values adjacent each of the different graphic icons.

    摘要： When an insufficient quantity of a preferred print media is installed in a selected printing device, methods and systems automatically output an insufficient-print-media notice and one or more reconfiguration options for proceeding with printing the print data on one of the installed print media types. In response, a selected reconfiguration option is received that identifies an alternative print media to be used in place of the preferred print media when executing the print request. Additional processing is performed to print the print data on the alternative print media including: automatically resizing the print data to fit on the alternative print media; automatically printing a cutline on the alternative print media to indicate where the alternative print media should be cut to be reduced to the preferred print media; and automatically formatting multiple pages of the print data to print on one page of the alternative print media.

    摘要： The embodiments provide a printer and a printing method that incorporate a printing mode capable of achieving high monochromatic quality at a low cost per page. This printing mode prints both fully saturated (or only minimally desaturated) monochrome images (e.g., black text and graphics) with no undercolor and significantly desaturated multi-color images on the same print medium. Optionally, the printing mode uses a specified resolution that is less than the maximum resolution, but greater than the minimum resolution. The printing mode also optionally prints outlines around monochrome images and/or color images in order maintain and enhance image quality.
