摘要: A flow control apparatus includes a flow control apparatus adapted to load a re-certification feeding set. The apparatus further includes a software subsystem in communication with the flow control apparatus having a re-certification procedure that determines whether a user has performed manual tests on the apparatus to verify that at least one component of the apparatus is functioning within a predetermined operational range. The subsystem disables automatic testing if it determines that manual testing has not been performed and executes a reiterative process prompting the user to conduct manual testing if the subsystem determines that manual testing has been performed.

摘要: A flow control apparatus having a flow monitoring system capable of detecting and identifying flow present within the administration feeding set loaded to the flow control apparatus is disclosed. The flow control apparatus comprises a single sensor capable of detecting the presence or absence of fluid in the administration feeding set. A software subsystem may be operatively associated with the single sensor that is capable of identifying between upstream and downstream flow conditions present within the administration feeding set loaded to the flow control apparatus.

摘要: A prediction type electronic thermometer having an actively controlled heater element thermally isolating the probe tip from the probe shaft. Rapid and accurate temperature measurements are made using predictive algorithms. Control circuitry reads input from the temperature sensing element to compute best heater control signals so that the temperature of the probe shaft rapidly follows changes in the temperature of the probe tip. Thermal isolation between probe shaft and tip impedes heat flow from the heater element to the tip providing more accurate measurements. Rapid and accurate management of shaft temperature allows heat from the patient being measured to be most efficiently transmitted to the temperature sensor element resulting in very fast temperature measurements.

摘要: A wireless relay module for networked communications between a series of medical devices and a remote monitoring device. The relay module communicates with the remote monitoring device over one or more internet-accessible wireless communication networks, and includes a receiver, transmitter for communicating over wireless relay networks, other transmitters for the one or more internet-accessible wireless communications networks; and a controller. The controller determines a status of the one or more internet-accessible wireless communications networks. When the status indicates that at least one of the interne-accessible wireless communications network is available, the appropriate transmitter is selected for the transmitting medical device data over the available internet-accessible wireless communications networks. When internet-accessible wireless communications networks are not accessible, the appropriate wireless relay network transmitter is selected for transmitting the data to another wireless relay module.

摘要: A remote monitoring system for monitoring a plurality of medical devices at a patient care or home care facility. The system includes a device integration server in communication with wireless relay modules for receiving data packets from the medical devices including an identifier and data for each medical device. The system also includes a data management system and an outbound web server. The data management system is configured to log data for the medical devices. The web server is configured to provide webpages including the data of the medical devices for display on a remote monitoring computer, subject to authentication of an associated data request from the monitoring computer. The Web server is configurable to look up patient information from a secure source when user has appropriate permissions. In addition, the device integration server is configured to process alert messages received from the wireless relay modules and, in response, to transmit text message information to the wireless relay modules to be relayed to one or more text messaging recipients.

摘要: A system for networked communications between a series of medical devices, wireless relay modules, and a remote device wireless relay network and an internet-accessible wireless communication network. At least one relay module includes a receiver, a first transmitter coupled to the wireless relay network, a second transmitter coupled to the internet-accessible wireless communication network, and a controller. The controller determines whether the internet-accessible wireless communications network is accessible. If accessible, then medical device data is transmitted to a remote device over that network using the second transmitter. If not accessible, then the first transmitter is used to transmit medical device data to another wireless relay module over the wireless relay network. Additionally, the controller analyzes the medical device data to determine whether an emergency condition exists, and transmits the medical device data to an emergency responder if such condition occurs together with location data for an associated medical device.

摘要: A method and apparatus for detecting power lines including a pickup coil for detecting the magnetic field generated by the current conducted by a power line and for producing a sense current in response to the detected magnetic field, a gyrator circuit for generating a sense voltage in response to the sense current and tuning means for producing an output voltage in response to the sense voltage such that a power line can be detected thereby. The tuning means also tunes the power line detecting apparatus to the predetermined frequency of the current conducted by the power lines. The power line detecting method and apparatus also preferably analyzes the magnitude and frequency of the output voltage produced by the tuning means so as to distinguish output voltages generated in response to the magnetic fields produced by power lines from those generated by extraneous electromagnetic noise. In addition, the power line detecting method apparatus can also determine the direction of the detected power lines by sampling successive output voltages as the power line detecting apparatus moves relative to the located power line such that movement of the power line detecting apparatus in a direction generally toward the located power line is detected and a warning or alarm can be produced.
