摘要: A mechanism is provided for distributing software features (particularly software products having a global portion and a user portion necessary for activating the software products) to client workstations of a network. Each client workstation has a multi-user operating system that may be accessed with different user profiles, each one associated with a corresponding operating context. A distribution package is received in the client workstation; the distribution package includes instructions associated with global activities for the client workstation as a whole or with user activities specific for the single profiles. A distribution agent (running outside the context of a current profile) executes only the global activity and schedules the user activities to be performed when a user next logs onto the workstation. A user agent loaded when the workstation is accessed with a selected profile executes the user activities in the corresponding context.

摘要: A mechanism is provided to detect that a dynamic migration of a virtual environment is in progress or has been executed during a hardware or software scan without requiring instrumentation of applications running within the virtual machine. The mechanism relies on a particular sequencing and usage of application programming interfaces and commands that scanning technology provides, associated with the modularity of the scans and on the external virtual machine enabler component running on the host. The mechanism may detect a dynamic migration and take proper actions based on the system configuration. The actions may include discarding the output of the scan executed across a dynamic migration and repeat the scan. The actions may also include notifying the initialization subsystem of the non-migration-safe application to execute a script or program to address migration safety issues. One particular program or script may be an agent ID regeneration program or script.

摘要: A mechanism for reducing electronic mail (email) sizes by using a local archive of email components is provided. The mechanism receives the email file, the email file specifying a sender identifier of a sender of the email file, a recipient identifier of a recipient of the email file, and common component information for a common component included in the email file, the common component being a component of the email file that is common amongst a plurality of email files sent from the sender. The mechanism identifies the common component of the email file and determines whether to remove the common component from the email file before forwarding the email file to the recipient based on at least the sender identifier. Based on the determination, the common component is either removed or kept in the email file that is subsequently transmitted to the recipient computer.

摘要: Localizing a software product is improved. A plurality of attributes of a plurality of interface elements according to a specified type of user interface are retrieved. Responsive to user input, one or more countries in which the software product is to be localized are specified. An interface element for the user interface is selected. From the attributes of the selected interface element, it is determined whether the interface element is consistent with the specified countries. If not, an alert on a computer display is displayed, in the event the selected interface element is not consistent with the countries specified by the user. The invention also calculates a cost of localizing the selected interface element, wherein the projected cost of localizing the user interface is incremented with the cost of localizing the selected interface element. An alert for the projected cost of localizing the user interface is displayed on the computer display.

摘要: A method and system provides for notification of a called party of an incoming voice phone call intended for the called party even while the called party is engaged in data communications via a dial-up modem. In response to a calling party placing a call, a telecommunications network determining whether the called number is busy. If the called number is busy, the telecommunications network determines whether the called number is engaged in data communications. If the called number is engaged in data communications, the telecommunications network further: determines a data communication protocol being used by the called party to access the data network via a modem device, retrieves from a user profile of the called party one or more user notification addresses associated with the data communication protocol, and transmits an incoming call notification message to the one or more user notification addresses of the called party. A reporting notification message is further transmitted by the telecommunications network to the calling party to let the calling party know that the called party has been notified of the incoming call.

摘要: A method is presented for deploying a component onto a production computer system. The method may include identifying one or more alterations associated with deployment of a first application onto a first computer system, where the first application on the first computer system is substantially similar to a second application on a second computer system. Embodiments may further include generating a command and an object corresponding to the alteration, where the command and the object are generated as a function of the first application. The alteration may then be replicated on the second application of the second computer system by executing the command and the object on the second computer system.
