Abstract:
Described herein are apparatus, systems and methods for enhanced PLMN selection using priority class information. A method may comprise, at a user equipment (“UE”), identifying a plurality of networks, each network having an assigned priority class indicator, identifying a first network of the plurality of networks as having a first priority class indicator, identifying a second network of the plurality of networks as having the first priority class indicator, identifying the first priority class indicator as the highest priority class of the assigned priority class indicators, and selecting between the first network and the second network based a quality characteristic.
Abstract:
A method, station and computer readable storage medium used for location aware network selection. A station determines a geographic location of the station, determines at least one predetermined Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) in the geographic location by comparing the geographic location to a database including stored geographic locations and PLMNs known to be present within each of the geographic locations, performs a targeted scan on select channels corresponding to the at least one predetermined PLMN to identify at least one available PLMN from among the at least one predetermined PLMN and selects one of the at least one available PLMN for the station to join.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to improve the robustness of a wireless communication link between a base station and a mobile communication device. The method increases power selectively on portions of an uplink communication signal transmitted from the mobile communication device to the base station. The method monitors a quality metric value at the mobile communication device and sets the transmit power level of the first portion of an uplink communication signal to the first power level, if the monitored quality metric value is in a first range of quality values, or sets the transmit power level of the first portion of the uplink communication signal to a second power level, if the monitored quality metric value is in a second range of quality values. The first portion of the uplink communication signal includes control signals used by a base station to maintain connection of the wireless communication link.
Abstract:
A method for assisting a wireless communication device to return to a first network from a second network subsequent to termination of a voice call for which a Circuit Switched Fallback procedure was performed to transition from the first network to the second network for servicing of the voice call is provided. The method can include preventing transmission of a data flow for a data service after termination of the voice call. The method can further include searching for the first network while transmission of the data flow is prevented. If the first network is found, the method can additionally include reverting to the first network and servicing the data service on the first network. If the first network is not found, the method can also include remaining on the second network and servicing the data service on the second network.
