    Abstract: A rotor for a rotating electric machine includes a hollow cylindrical rotor core and a plurality of permanent magnets. The rotor core has a plurality of magnet-receiving holes arranged in a circumferential direction thereof. The permanent magnets are received respectively in the magnet-receiving holes of the rotor core to form a plurality of magnetic poles the polarities of which alternate between north and south in the circumferential direction of the rotor core. Moreover, the rotor core further has a plurality of q-axis core portions each of which is located between one circumferentially-adjacent pair of the magnetic poles. For each of the q-axis core portions, a radially outer circumferential width center of the q-axis core portion is offset upstream in a direction of rotation of the rotor from a radially inner circumferential width center of the q-axis core portion.

    Abstract: A stator includes an annular stator core and a three-phase stator coil. The stator coil is comprised of a plurality of star-connected phase windings. The stator coil further has a plurality of interphase bridging wires to electrically connect neutral point-side ends of the phase windings to each other. The interphase bridging wires are arranged on a coil end of the stator coil. At least one of the interphase bridging wires is made up of at least one busbar. The busbar includes three or four connecting end portions each having a joining surface joined to one of the phase windings, other bridging wires and other busbars. The connecting end portions are arranged so that some of the joining surfaces of the connecting end portions face substantially in the circumferential direction of the stator core, while the other joining surfaces face substantially in a radial direction of the stator core.

    Abstract: In a stator having a stator core and phase windings, slots are formed in the stator core and each slot accommodates conductors in a layer structure from one end to the other end of the slot in a radial direction of the stator core. The phase windings in one phase have conductors accommodated in a first slot and a second slot which are adjacently formed in the stator core. An electrical connection between the conductors in a n-th layer and the conductors in a (n+1)-th layer includes that the conductors accommodated in the first slot are electrically connected together, the conductors accommodated in the second slot are electrically connected together, and the conductors accommodated in the first slot are electrically connected with the conductors accommodated in the second slot. This connection eliminates a phase difference in the first slot and the second slot in a distributed winding structure.

    Abstract: A multi-phase armature winding is made up of winding segments. Each of the winding segments includes a pair of straight sections extending straight in an axial direction of the armature winding and connecting sections which are located on axially opposed end sides of the armature winding. The connecting sections are bent and connect the straight sections together in a circumferential direction of the armature winding. The winding segment is produced by winding a conductor wire member a plurality of times. The conductor wire member is made of a bundle of wires. Each of the straight sections occupies the whole of a coil side and portions of coil ends of the winding segment. Each of the straight sections has holding portions arranged at least in coil end portions thereof. The holding portions work to tighten the wires together.

    Abstract: In a rotating electric machine that includes an armature with an armature coil, the armature coil is formed by winding an electrical conductor wire. The electrical conductor wire includes a plurality of element wires in a bundled state and an insulating coat covering the bundled element wires. Each of the element wires includes an electrical conductor through which electric current flows, and a fusing layer that covers a surface of the electrical conductor. In the bundled state of the element wires, the fusing layers of the element wires are in contact with and fused to one another. Between adjacent parts of the electrical conductor wire wound to form the armature coil, there are formed gaps due to differences in straightness between different parts of the electrical conductor wire. The gaps are filled with a filler.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine includes an armature that has an armature winding of multiple phases. The armature winding is configured by a conductor being wound. The conductor is configured by a plurality of wires covered by an insulation coating in a state in which the plurality of wires are bundled. Each of the plurality of wires includes a conductor body configured to permit flow of a current, and a fusion layer that covers a surface of the conductor body. The fusion layer is configured to be thinner than the insulation coating. In the state in which the plurality of wires are bundled, fusion layers of the plurality of wires are fused and in contact with one another. A coefficient of linear expansion of the fusion layer differs from a coefficient of linear expansion of the insulation coating.
