Abstract: A filter element has an upstream and downstream side. A filter media assembly of the filter element has an upstream side and a downstream side and has a first filter media layer and a second filter media layer that is adjacent to the first media layer. A substantial portion of the first layer and second layer are uncoupled, and at least one of the first media layer and second media layer comprises binder fiber. The second media layer has a mean flow pore size equal to or smaller than the first media layer. A support layer system is adjacent to the downstream side of the filter media assembly, and a first wire mesh layer is adjacent to the support layer system. At least the first media layer, second media layer, support layer system, and first wire mesh cooperatively define pleats at a pleat packing density of greater than 125%.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a filter material for coalescing a dispersed phase in a continuous phase. The filter material has binder fibers and irregular rayon fibers distributed among the binder fibers. The filter material lacks non-fibrous resin. Some embodiments relate to a filter assembly. The filter assembly has a particle filtration layer, a coalescing layer downstream of the particle filtration layer, and a growth media downstream of the coalescing layer. The coalescing layer is coupled to the particle filtration layer. The growth media has irregular rayon fibers and binder fibers distributed among the irregular rayon fibers. The growth media lacks non-fibrous resin.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a high performing (including, for example, high efficiency and low pressure drop) filter media. The filter media includes a support layer and a layer of fine fibers wherein at least some of the fine fibers in the fine fiber layer having an average diameter at least 3 times the average fiber diameter of a smaller fine fiber in the fine fiber layer. The fine fiber layer may include multiple layers of fine fibers. In some aspects, the smaller fine fiber may be present in the same layer of fine fibers as the larger fine fibers. Additionally or alternatively, the larger fine fibers may be present in a first layer of fine fibers and the smaller fine fibers may be present in a second layer of fine fibers.

Abstract: Thermoplastic bicomponent binder fiber can be combined with other media, fibers and other filtration components to form a thermally bonded filtration media. The filtration media can be used in filter units, such as breather caps. Such filter units can be placed in the stream of a mobile fluid and can remove a particulate and/or fluid mist load from the mobile stream. The unique combination of media fiber, bicomponent binder fiber and other filtration additives and components provide a filtration media having unique properties in filtration applications.
