摘要: Improved techniques and apparatus for managing data between a host device (e.g., host computer) and a client device. The data being managed can, for example, pertain to portable computer programs, such as widgets. The managing of the data thus can involve transfer of portable computer programs (e.g., widgets) between the host device and the client device. In one embodiment, the transfer of portable computer programs between a host device and a client device can be referred to as synchronization.

摘要: A method of analyzing information flow within an organization includes defining a three-dimensional data visualization structure of the organization including interconnections between organizational elements of the organization. Data flow is processed based on a set of known rules relating to information flow via the interconnections and based upon a flow structure through the organization, so as to simulate moving in time through organizational data upon the set of known rules, from a first endpoint data in order to generate a second endpoint data. In particular, the second endpoint data is one of forward and backward in time relative to the first endpoint data. The second endpoint data is verified against a predetermined outcome and an indication of the result of verifying is provided.

摘要: A method of providing users with improvements in the acquisition and display of content from the World Wide Web is provided in respect of users searching the World Wide Web. The method exploits the storing of user dependent information, including both limited to their personal information, personal contacts, personal preferences, and consumer related history data. The resulting user dependent information allowing the ranking of retrieved search results from an inquiry provided by the user according to their personal data and preferences. Accordingly the method provides for the user to combining the results from a single query to multiple search engines and display them as a single ranked list. According to another embodiment of the invention the method allows for automatically refining the search iteratively to provide results with high relevance to the user or of a manageable quantity to review.

摘要: A method of searching is performed by providing a term for use in searching of information. The term is useful in determining documents relating to the term. In response to the provided term, search results within a search result set are determined. The search results include an indication of some of the documents relating to the term. The search result set defines a resulting search space. A further term is provided for reducing the search result set or expanding thereof. The further term is provided based on the term, terms relating to documents within the search space, and the resulting search space.

摘要: A speech-to-text-to-speech for use with on-line and real time transmission of speech with a small bandwidth from a source to a destination. A speech is received and broken down to speechlets, which are encoded into series of symbols compatible with communication systems and other than a known symbolic representation of the speech in a known language for being transmitted through communication networks. When received, the series of symbols is decoded to restore the speechlets and for reconstituting a speech according to the speechlets prior to being communicated to a listening party.

摘要: A system and method for supporting the storage of advertising data used for providing advertisements in video games relies upon a proxy server for storing the advertising data. Specifically, in a video game device that supports a network communications and does not support a large non-volatile memory suitable for storing advertising data a storage media external to the video game device is identified and a portion of the storage media is reserved for storing advertising data. During a video game session an opportunity to provide an advertisement is detected and suitable advertising data is identified on the storage medium and transferred to the computing device via the network.

摘要: A secure card such as a credit card having a magnetic strip thereon is disclosed. The magnetic strip is coated with a thin amorphous layer having electrical characteristics and a processor. In a first state, the amorphous layer acts to interfere with reading of information from the magnetic strip. Identification of a user of the card as an authorized user thereof results in a second state in which the information stored in the magnetic strip is accessible. For example, biometric identification or the use of a PIN entered either directly into the card or through an input terminal cause the processor to switch power from the amorphous strip thereby removing the interference and unmasking the information on the magnetic strip.

摘要: An air distribution system for conditioning air and selectably forcing the air into a passenger compartment or a trunk compartment of a vehicle is provided. The air may be pre-cooled or pre-heated before being forced by a ventilator to particular vents. This is particularly useful on a warm day when the top is down on a convertible. By cooling the trunk, specifically, groceries or perishables can be kept relatively cool.

摘要: A method is provided in which time slicing data, including an indication of available time blocks for loaning an e-book from an e-book lending library, are provided to a user in response to the user requesting to borrow an e-book that is not currently available for being loaned. When the user selects an available time block via an electronic device, the e-book lending library provides to an electronic device that is associated with the user, via the communications network, a lending license for the e-book that is valid only during the selected available time block. The e-book lending library enables access to the first e-book via the electronic device, during the selected time block, using the provided lending license.

摘要: A method and system for providing multiple ophthalmic and retinal blood measurements is outlined. By extracting multiple digitized wavelength images and quantitative data within a relatively short time period the method allows for compensation of a patient's eye or head movement, generation of ophthalmic clinical records, and determination of data relating to blood measurements, such as oxygen saturation and hemoglobin, in addition to ocular and other disease determinations. The method provides for multiple analysis and measurements within a single sitting of the patient, with a single simple instrument and without adaptations to the instrument during a patient's eye examination. Beneficially the approach allows for low cost, compact, and even portable implementations offering such analysis and determination outside the current ophthalmic centers providing eased access and earlier diagnosis opportunities.
