摘要: Systems and methods for perceptual image preview are described. In one aspect, a naive preview image is generated by downsampling a larger image. Perceptual features of the larger image are then detected. Information associated with the detected perceptual features is then incorporated into the naive preview image to create a perceptual preview image. Since the perceptual preview image incorporates information associated with the detected perceptual features, a viewer of the perceptual preview image will be more likely to detect the presence or absence of such perceptual features in the larger image.

摘要: Methods and systems for converting text into natural personal handwriting are provided. One aspect relates to the training of a computer to recognize a user's handwriting style. In one embodiment, the computer receives handwriting samples of at least one character written by the user, such as the character being provided as the beginning, middle, or ending character among a plurality of other characters. Further embodiments allow for increased personalization of the handwriting. Another aspect relates to system and methods for displaying a representation of a computer user's handwriting. In one embodiment, the handwriting comprises variant shapes of letters, personalized connection style between letters, and connection parts that look pressure-sensitive. In another embodiment, characters are adjusted, such as cutting portions of the character to create a more realistic recreation and synthesis of the handwriting.

摘要: Computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions and apparatuses detect a structured handwritten object is detected in a handwritten document. A primitive structure, which is associated with a set of component objects, is formed. A candidate handwritten object is identified by detecting a corresponding logical structure. A classifier for the candidate handwritten object is determined. Consequently, the candidate handwritten object is validated from the classifier.

摘要: Computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions distinguish the script type of at least one portion of a writing input. At least one sub-word of a writing line of a handwritten document is identified and is processed to determine the associated writing style that includes a cursive writing style and a hand-printed writing style. The writing line is consequently associated with a script type. The script type of a writing line is determined from the script types of the sub-words in the writing line. When the number of sub-words having a first script type is greater than the number of sub-words having a second script type, the script type of the writing line is categorized as the first script type. In addition, a script analyzer determines a writing style of at least one sub-word and selects one of a plurality of neural networks to categorize the script type of a writing line.

摘要: X-y positions of a digital pen's tip may be determined by using a calibration parameter to map the x-y positions of the respective centers of images captured by the pen's camera. The calibration parameter may be generated by iteratively calculating estimates of the calibration parameter. The iteratively calculated estimates may be based on a gradient of an error function of the iteratively generated estimates. Calibration input data may be produced by a user placing the pen tip in a fixed location on a surface, which may be a positionally encoded medium, such as paper, and then rotating the pen and/or moving the opposite end of the pen in various directions to capture multiple images for use in generating the calibration parameter. A user may perform such a calibration procedure without the need for complicated calibration equipment typically used in connection with conventional calibration techniques.

摘要: A super-resolution algorithm that explicitly and exactly models the detector pixel shape, size, location, and gaps for periodic and aperiodic tilings. The algorithm projects the low-resolution input image into high-resolution space to model the actual shapes and/or gaps of the detector pixels. By using an aperiodic pixel layout such as a Penrose tiling significant improvements in super-resolution results can be obtained. An error back-projection super-resolution algorithm makes use of the exact detector model in its back projection operator for better accuracy. Theoretically, the aperiodic detector can be based on CCD (charge-coupled device) technology, and/or more practically, CMOS (complimentary metal oxide semiconductor) technology, for example.
