Abstract: Technologies for pedometric sensing in footwear include a step tracker compute device. The step tracker compute device is to receive acceleration data indicative of movement of a foot of a user, generate energy contour data indicative of energy levels over time, based on the received acceleration data, determine dynamic energy thresholds indicative of peaks in the energy contour data, and detect steps of the user based on the dynamic energy thresholds and the energy contour data to generate step data. Abstract: Technologies for wireless charging of an electric vehicle include moving a first coil toward a second coil based on a sensed distance between the first coil and the second coil. In an embodiment, the first coil is embodied as a power transmission coil that is moved toward the second coil, which is embodied as a power receiving coil located in the electric vehicle. The power transmission coil may be moved vertically from a roadway or other substrate beneath the electric vehicle. In another embodiment, the first coil may be embodied as the power receiving coil located in the electric vehicle that is moved downwardly from the electric vehicle toward the second coil, which is embodied as the power transmission coil. In such embodiments, the power transmission coil may be embodied in the roadway or other substrate beneath the electric vehicle. Additional technologies for controlling the movement and transfer of power of the coils are also disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for a signal transmission for an apparatus, such as a mobile or wearable device, based on sensor fail-safety. In one instance, the apparatus may comprise a transmitter to transmit a communication signal of the apparatus at a first power level, a sensor to monitor a process that is external to the apparatus and to provide an output signal indicating a change in a state of the process, and a control module communicatively coupled with the sensor and transmitter, to determine whether the output signal provided by the sensor has indicated a change in the external process over a threshold time period, and, based on a result of this determination, cause the transmitter to switch the transmission from the first power level to a second power level that is lower than the first power level. Abstract: Transmission power control methods and devices are described. In a transmission power control method, a specific absorption rate (SAR) is calculated based on a transmission power of the communication device and a proximity distance of the communication device with an external object. A time average specific absorption rate can be calculated based on the SAR. A power absorption budget value can be calculated based on the time average specific absorption rate and a time average specific absorption rate threshold value. Further, the transmission power of the communication device can be adjusted based on the power absorption budget value.
