摘要: Optical systems for use in digital cameras are provided. The systems can be switched between three optical paths (1,2,3): a first path (1) for through-the-lens (TTL) viewing; a second path (2) for recalling previously taken pictures from a microdisplay (16); and a third path (3) in which pictures are taken using an electronic sensor (15), e.g., a CMOS sensor. The optical systems employ a zoom objective lens unit (10), e.g., a 3:1 zoom, an erector lens unit (12), and an eye lens unit (13). They can also employ an image size adjusting lens unit (11) for equalizing the TTL and recalled images presented to the user. To facilitate integration with the electronic components of a digital camera and to provide a “book” format for the camera, the first and second optical paths (1,2) lie in a single plane and each includes two folding mirrors (17,20 for the first path; 18,20 for the second path) and the third optical path (3) has a single folding mirror (19) so that a portion of that path is in the single plane and a portion is orthogonal to that plane.

摘要: Zoom projection lens systems are provided which have 1) an entrance pupil which remains at a substantially fixed position as zooming takes place, and 2) a operative aperture stop, distinct from the system's physical aperture stop, which moves through lens surfaces as zooming takes place. The fixed entrance pupil allows for efficient coupling to a light source throughout the magnification range of the system. Methods which can be used to design and produce zoom lens systems of this type and which employ a pseudo-aperture stop are also disclosed.

摘要: A projection lens for a cathode ray tube display which comprises from the image end, a first group of relatively weak optical power serving primarily to correct aperture dependent aberrations, a second group of strong positive power, and a third negative group having a strongly concave image side surface and which serves as a field flattener and to correct the Petzval curvature of the services of the elements of the other groups. The second group comprises two elements which provide substantially all of the positive power of the lens and which define an air meniscus therebetween with the minor dimension at the optical axis. The optical powers of the second group bear a predetermined ratio and have a minor dimension at the optical axis.

摘要: In a continuous path enlarger having an illumination system for illuminating a very wide continuously moving original and projecting the image thereof onto a much wider sheet of light sensitive recording material moving synchronously with the original, the improvement wherein the illumination system includes a plurality of identical abutting, illumination sources each having a light source and a lens system with the final lens thereof being in the shape of a parallelogram having straight side edges in contact with the adjacent side edges of each adjacent final lens, and with the side edges being at an acute angle to the direction of travel of the recording sheet. Further, the plurality of image areas on the recording sheet preferably overlap each other. Thus, the total amount of light received at any point on the recording sheet passing through an angled edge of one of the plurality of image areas integrates across the width of the exposure area and is sufficient to effect proper exposure of the recording material so that uniformity is achieved over the field of exposure.

摘要: Binoculars designed to provide a large aided static field of view are provided. The binoculars are characterized by S/D ratios of above 2.8, where S is the binoculars' aided static field of view calculated by multiplying the binoculars' magnifying power by the binoculars' semi field of view in object space and D is given by tan.sup.-1 [(R.sub.ex +1.5)/13], where R.sub.ex is the radius of the binoculars' exit pupil and where R.sub.ex and the constants 1.5 and 13 are measured in millimeters. As a result of the increased S/D ratio, the binoculars' of the invention minimize the sensation of tunnel vision which normally occurs when binoculars are used and reduce the user's apprehension of missing activities in his or her peripheral vision. In certain embodiments, a movable field lens unit is employed to provide variable power and a negative corrector lens unit is employed for aberration correction and to minimize the size of the binoculars. The binoculars are suitable for mass production and general consumer use.
