    Abstract: An elevator has an elevator car that is guided on two mutually opposite guide rails in an elevator shaft. The guide rails each contain a U-shaped guide channel with a frontal guide surface and two lateral guide surfaces. Roller guide shoes are provided for guiding the elevator car. Each of the roller guide shoes has two rollers mounted on a common axle so as to rotate freely about an axis of rotation for guiding along the frontal guide surface of the U-shaped guide channel and a guide roller received between the two lateral guide surfaces of the U-shaped guide channel for lateral guidance. Covers are arranged upstream of the two rollers for covering the respective rollers, wherein the covers form an emergency guide.

    Abstract: A suspension device has at least one brake for braking an elevator car relative to a stationary component of an elevator system, a brake holding assembly holding the brake on the elevator car, and a support means holding assembly holding a support means on the elevator car. The support means connects the elevator car to a counterweight of the elevator system. The brake holding assembly holds the brake against the elevator car such that the brake moves relative to the elevator car in a force direction produced by the brake. The support means holding assembly holds the support means against the elevator car such that the support means moves relative to the elevator car substantially in a force direction produced by the support means. A load measuring device measures an exerted force produced by relative movement of the support means and/or the brake.

The brake device includes a forcing element and a counter-support. The forcing element has first and second forcing working faces for acting on the first and second profiles respectively. The counter-support has a first counter-support working face for acting on the first profile, and a second counter-support working face for acting on the second profile. The first forcing working face and the first counter-support working face are arranged opposite one another at the first profile and the second forcing working face and the second counter-support working face are arranged opposite one another at the second profile.
