Abstract: A method of driving an image display apparatus which includes an image display panel having a plurality of pixels arrayed in a two-dimensional matrix and each configured from a first subpixel for displaying a first primary color, a second subpixel for displaying a second primary color, a third subpixel for displaying a third primary color and a fourth subpixel for displaying a fourth color, and a signal processing section. The signal processing section is capable of calculating a first subpixel output signal, a second subpixel output signal, a third subpixel output signal, and a fourth subpixel output signal. The method includes a step of calculating a maximum value (Vmax(S)) of brightness, a saturation (S) and brightness (V(S)), and determining the expansion coefficient (α0).

Abstract: A display device includes a light modulation layer having predetermined refractive index anisotropy and including plural light modulation areas which differ in responsiveness to an electric field generated by electrodes, a polarization layer which is disposed on the front side of the light modulation layer, on which side external light enters, which shuts out light other than light having a predetermined polarization direction, a reflection layer disposed on the back side of the light modulation layer, and a phase retardation layer which is disposed between the polarization and light modulation layers, which creates a predetermined phase difference between incident light entering through the polarization layer and reflected light from the reflection layer, and which polarizes the reflected light in a direction different from the predetermined polarization direction. The light modulation layer transmits the reflected light when no electric field is generated and scatters it otherwise.

Abstract: The display system includes a display system including an image-capturing apparatus including an image-capturing element; an image processing apparatus that performs image processing on the image; and a display apparatus including a display device that displays the image resulting from the image processing. The image processing apparatus includes an image processor that performs the image processing on a predetermined number of line images corresponding to a part of a frame image captured by the image-capturing element, sequentially outputs the image to the display apparatus per the predetermined number of line images, and causes the display apparatus to display the frame image; and a storage device that stores the predetermined number of line images until the frame image is completed. The image processor is configured to perform the image processing including frame unit processing on the predetermined number of line images associated with the frame image to be output.

Abstract: According to an aspect, an imaging display system includes an imaging device, a display device, and a processing device. The imaging device includes a rolling shutter image sensor that takes an image. The display device displays the image. The processing device performs image processing on the image. The imaging display system is mounted on a movable body that moves in a certain direction on a reference plane. The imaging device is arranged at an angle with respect to a moving direction of the movable body on the reference plane. An imaging scanning direction of the image on the image sensor is horizontal with respect to the reference plane. A display scanning direction of the image displayed on the display device coincides with the imaging scanning direction.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes a display unit in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a matrix along two directions intersecting with each other. Each of the pixels includes three sub-pixels corresponding to three of four colors including a first color, a second color, a third color, and a fourth color. An area of one sub-pixel among the three sub-pixels is larger than the area of each of the other two sub-pixels. A sub-pixel of the fourth color is one of the other two sub-pixels. Pixels each including the sub-pixel of the fourth color are not adjacent to each other in at least one of the two directions in the display unit.
