    摘要: The present invention relates to systems and methods for a implementing an optimized low-end radio communication protocol, wherein the communication link is flexible and the power consumption characteristics are optimized. One facet of the system's flexibility relates to the system's ability to negotiate device control roles associated with a polling communication link. Also, once the device control roles are in place and the communication link is established, the system selectively implements a number of polling protocols for a multitude of applications that need a low power consumption. In some embodiments the system maintains a communication link with a reduced frequency polling protocol. This type of communication link maintains efficient power consumption characteristics, as well as, connection times that are faster than establishing a communication link between disconnected devices.

    摘要: Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed to provide for wireless resource sharing between heterogeneous wireless networks to enable coexistence of secondary networks in a TV band white space by grouping two or more of the neighboring networks into subsets based on predefined rules. An example embodiment of the invention includes a method, comprising the steps of: maintaining, at an apparatus, information regarding at least one of used communication protocols, operator identifiers, and bandwidths associated with one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and wireless networks neighboring the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus; forming, from the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and the wireless networks neighboring the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus, a number of subsets, based on at least one of the used communication protocols, the operator identifiers, and the bandwidths associated with the one or more wireless networks served by the apparatus and the wireless networks neighboring the one or more served wireless networks; and comparing the number of formed subsets with a number of available channels.

An apparatus may listen for potential silent periods to occur in an environment, and if detected, the potential silent periods may be compared to quiet period criteria to determine if they are actual silent periods. If at least two subsequent actual silent periods are determined, the apparatus may adopt quiet period timing and duration based on the actual silent periods. Alternatively, the apparatus may establish new quiet period timing and duration based on the quiet period criteria.

    摘要: Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed for independent wireless resource sharing on a fair basis to enable selecting the most suitable coexistence between wireless networks. Example embodiments of the invention include a hierarchical resource request process that enables reallocation of radio resources in a coexistence band. When new resources are requested by a network, a search is made for free resources in the coexistence band. If this does not succeed, a check is made for any allocated but unused resources in the coexistence band that have been advertised by neighboring networks. If there are insufficient advertised resources, then the allocation of resources in neighboring networks is analyzed and compared with the requesting network's need for network resources. There are two graduated stages to the analysis. In an example light analysis stage, an analysis of the allocation of resources is limited to neighboring networks within the same network allocation group as the requesting network's. In a more extensive analysis stage, all of the neighboring networks are analyzed. In this manner, a more complete resource reallocation may be achieved.
