摘要: A light modulating device array formed in a surface of a crystal plate with an electrooptic effect includes an optical input coupling waveguide portion receiving a laser beam from a laser source, a tapered waveguide array portion for dividing a light beam from the optical input coupling waveguide portion into a plurality of parts, and a plurality of light modulating parts juxtaposed in a predetermined direction and receiving light beams from the tapered waveguide array portion. Each of the light modulating parts includes an input waveguide portion and a pair of modulating waveguide portions formed by bifurcating the input waveguide portion, so as to form a Mach-Zehnder type waveguide structure. Further, each light modulating part includes electrodes for controlling the modulating waveguide portions, to vary the intensity of light outputted from the light modulating part, in accordance with a voltage applied to each electrode. Selected ones of the electrodes includes in this array are connected to each other, to prevent adjacent light modulating parts from interacting on each other.

摘要: A method and apparatus for generating optical information are disclosed. A plurality of electrode wires are arranged on an electro-optical crystal, a light beam passing through the electro-optical crystal is spatially phase-modulated by an electro-optical effect due to a voltage applied to the electrode wires, a portion of light distribution spread by diffraction of the phase-modulated light beam is blocked by an optical system having an aperture or a slit arranged on a focal plane of the optical system, and the light passed through the aperture is focused to generate optical information composed of a minimum unit equal to a multiple of a minimum electrode-to-electrode distance.

摘要: The conventional washing apparatus has a double-cup washing tank that joins and separates to let work be placed therein, with nozzles set on the inner cup to allow a passage between it and the outer cup for spent liquid and/or air. The work is cleaned by washing detergent spirally flowing along the periphery of the inner cup by suction power within the passage, and then dried. Suction is not generated within the inner cup, so the spiral flow is too weak to make the tornado effect. This invention though resolves the above issues by an encased washing apparatus having a capsule-shaped washing chamber that joins and separates, has nozzles thereon, has a work table within that rotates by a drive device, has a drain at the bottom, and is characterized by washing detergent, cleaning water and/or air swirling by negative pressure within the washing chamber and then discharging into a drain.

摘要: A multi-beam generating device has plural semiconductor lasers, optical fibers to propagate laser beams generated by the semiconductor lasers, an optical fiber array to propagate the laser beams passed through the optical fibers, and an optical waveguide device provided with waveguides to propagate the laser beams having passed through the optical fiber array. Each of the waveguides has a core layer and a clad layer; a pitch between adjacent waveguides in the arrangement is narrower on the output section side where the laser beams emit than on the input section side where the laser beams enter; a width of the core layer is narrower in the transverse direction that is the direction of the arrangement of the waveguides than in the vertical direction; and a difference in refractive index between the core layer and the clad layer is larger in the transverse direction than in the vertical direction.

摘要: An optical system is provided with a laser device for emitting a multiplet laser beam with two types of frequencies F1, F2, and a sample rotator on which a reference sample and a test sample containing substances are set for rotating both the test sample and the reference sample to separate the substances contained in the test sample. The test sample and the reference sample are irradiated with the multiplet laser beam one after another to shift the phase of the laser beam. The optical system is further provided with a polarizer for polarizing the multiplet laser beams transmitting through the test sample and the reference sample to produce both a test sample signal with a frequency .DELTA.F=F1-F2 and a reference sample signal with the frequency .DELTA.F, and a signal analyzer for analyzing a phase difference between the sample signals to determine an index of refraction of the test sample. Therefore, the substances containing in the test sample are specified.
