Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a wireless power transmission device. A wireless power transmission device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a coil part including a plurality of partially overlapping coils; a coil combination generator configured to generate coil combinations including at least one of the plurality of coils; and a controller configured to transmit a coil selection signal through the coil combinations and to select an operating coil combination from the coil combinations based on a response intensity of a response signal for the coil selection signal and charging efficiency of a wireless power reception device. Accordingly, a high-efficiency charging area can be extended in partially overlapping multiple coils.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device and method for wireless power transfer to multiple devices using a multi-coil. The device disclosed in the specification comprises: a power pickup unit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transfer device having a plurality of primary coils at an operation frequency by magnetic coupling to the wireless power transfer device and convert an alternating current signal generated by the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication/control unit including an in-band communication module configured to be supplied with the direct current signal from the power pickup unit and perform communication with the wireless power transfer device by using the operating frequency, and an out-band communication module configured to perform communication with the wireless power transfer device by using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a load configured to be supplied with the direct current signal from the power pickup unit. In a one-to-multiple wireless power transfer system using a multi-coil, various applications of wireless power can be efficiently supported by defining configuration information, control information, management information, and procedures for the exchanges thereof as an out-band communication protocol.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless power transmitting device. The wireless power transmitting device comprises a transmitter coil section with a plurality of partially overlapping transmitter coils; a fan for cooling heat generated by the transmitter coil section; and a controller for sending out a detection signal through the transmitter coil section, calculating the number of operating coils based on the strength of a response signal to the detection signal, and controlling the fan based on the calculated number of operating coils. Accordingly, heat generated by the transmitter coils can be reduced more efficiently.

Abstract: A wireless power transmission apparatus can include a resonant circuit including a plurality of coils and a plurality of capacitor elements respectively connected to the plurality of coils; a first sensor configured to sense a change in inductance of each of the plurality of coils; a second sensor configured to sense a change in a quality factor of each of the plurality of coils; and a controller configured to calculate feature values based on an inductance variation and a quality factor variation for detecting a foreign object, and determine the foreign object is present on a charging surface of the wireless power transmission apparatus based on whether a feature value combination selected from among the feature values falls within a reference region on a coordinate plane formed by an intersection of a first axis and a second axis, in which the first axis is based on inductance variation and the second axis is based on quality factor variation.
