Abstract: A multi-coil based wireless power transmission device is disclosed that includes a primary coil array forming a magnetic coupling with a secondary coil provided in a wireless power reception device to transmit wireless power to the wireless power reception device; a plurality of inverters connected to a plurality of primary coils one-to-one to selectively drive each of the plurality of primary coils; a communication and control unit controlling the plurality of inverters and communication with the wireless power reception device such that at least one primary coil is driven based on the degree of magnetic coupling formed by each primary coil and the secondary coil, thereby determining output, which can be provided by the primary coil array, within a value obtained by summing all the maximum outputs individually set to the respective primary coils.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for supporting heterogeneous communication in a wireless power transmission system. The present disclosure discloses a wireless power receiver comprising: a power pickup unit configured to receive, from a wireless power transmitter, a digital ping signal or wireless power by magnetically coupling with the wireless power transmitter at an operating frequency, and to convert an alternating current signal generated by the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit, and to perform at least one of an in-band communication using the operating frequency and an out-band communication using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a load configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit. As a heterogeneous communication protocol can be selected at an early stage of power transmission between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, it is possible to support various applications of wireless power transmission.

Abstract: A communication method of a wireless power transmitter for transferring power in a wireless manner, includes allocating a slot among a plurality of slots to a first wireless power receiver, the slot being allocated to the first wireless power receiver for acquiring information of the first wireless power receiver while wireless power is transferred to the first wireless power receiver; transferring the wireless power to the first wireless power receiver by the wireless power transmitter; detecting a second wireless power receiver by the wireless power transmitter during the wireless power transfer to the first wireless power receiver; and generating a collision related signal based on a frequency shift keying (FSK) such that a collision resolution mechanism is executed by each of the first and second wireless power receivers respectively when first information generated by the first wireless power and second information generated by the second wireless power are in a collision within a first unallocated slot among the plurality of slots, the first information and the second information being generated based on a load modulation.
