    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for performing handover between heterogeneous communication methods. A wireless power transmission apparatus and reception apparatus can indicate whether to support out-band communication thereof on the basis of an out-band flag. The wireless power transmission apparatus can request the wireless power reception apparatus to start a handover by using a bit pattern requesting the handover. The handover procedure to out-band may be performed in a negotiation phase or may be performed in a separate handover phase. Information for establishing an out-band communication connection can be transmitted from the wireless power reception apparatus to the wireless power transmission apparatus through in-band communication. Also, even after the handover to the out-band is completed, it is possible to periodically or intermittently perform the in-band communication in a power transmission phase to detect a swap of the wireless power reception apparatus.

    Abstract: A wireless power transmitting device according to an embodiment of the present specification relates to a wireless power transmitting device for transmitting wireless power to a wireless power receiving device, and comprises: a power conversion circuit including a primary coil for transmitting the wireless power to the wireless power receiving device; and a communication/control circuit for communicating with the wireless power receiving device and controlling the power conversion circuit, wherein, before transmitting the wireless power to the wireless power receiving device, the communication/control circuit temporarily applies driving power to the primary coil and then stops the transmission of the driving power, and obtains a quality factor on the basis of a change in the voltage or current of the primary coil during a period of time in which the transmission of the driving power is stopped.

    Abstract: A method for transmitting a control error packet to a wireless power transmitter includes transmitting the control error packet including a control error value to the wireless power transmitter within a first time interval or a second time interval larger than the first time interval, based on a type of a power profile and a version of wireless power transfer standard with which the wireless power receiver and the wireless power transmitter comply. When the version of the wireless power transfer standard is a first version, the wireless power receiver transmits the control error packet within the first time interval. When the version of the wireless power transfer standard is a second version higher than the first version and the type of the power profile is an extended power profile, the wireless power receiver transmits the control error packet within the second time interval.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless power transfer apparatus. The wireless power transfer apparatus includes: a resonant circuit unit including a plurality of coils and a plurality of capacitor elements respectively connected to the plurality of coils; and a controller configured to calculate individual quality factor of each of the plurality of coils and a total quality factor of the plurality of coils, at a resonant frequency, and calculate whether foreign matter exists on a charging surface, based on the total quality factor and the individual quality factor, at the resonance frequency. Accordingly, foreign matter on the charging surface can be detected more easily.
