    摘要: A magnetic toner for electrophotography having stable triboelectric chargeability under various environmental conditions may be provided by using magnetic iron oxide particles having a moderately high surface Feo content, specified by the following conditions: (a) a dissolved Fe (II) content in dissolved total iron of 14-33.3 wt. % at a dissolved total iron percentage of 5.+-.1 wt. %, (b) a dissolved Fe (II) content in dissolved total iron of 17-33.3 wt. % at a dissolved total iron percentage of 10.+-.1 wt. %, and (c) a dissolved Fe (II) content in dissolved total iron of 18-33.3 wt. % at a dissolved total iron percentage of 15.+-.1 wt.

    摘要: A non-metallic black toner is disclosed. The toner has toner particles containing at least a binder resin, a carbon black and an organometallic compound, and an external additive. The toner particles contain 10 to 200 ppm of at least one kind of alkali metal element and at least one kind of organometallic compound. The toner particles further contain a polyester resin. The non-metallic black toner has a weight-average particle diameter of 4 to 11 &mgr;m, the following loss tangents tan &dgr; shown by dielectric loss factor ∈″/dielectric constant ∈′ at frequencies of 5×104 Hz and 105 Hz: tan &dgr; (5×104 Hz)≦0.0125 tan &dgr; (105 Hz)≦0.0105, a Carr's flowability index of 50 or more, and a Carr's floodability index of 65 or more. Also, an image forming method is disclose using the black toner.

    摘要: A developer for developing an electrostatic image is constituted by an insulating magnetic toner, inorganic fine powder and a flowability-improving agent having a BET specific surface area of at least 30 m.sup.2 /g. The insulating magnetic toner has a weight-average particle size (t-D.sub.4) of 4-14 .mu.m, a number-average particle size (t-D.sub.1) of 1-10 .mu.m, and a ratio (t-D.sub.4)/(t-D.sub.1) of 1.01-2. The inorganic fine powder has a weight-average particle size (m-D.sub.4) of 0.6-5 .mu.m, a number-average particle size (m-D.sub.1) of 0.5-4 .mu.m, and a ratio (m-D.sub.4)/(m-D.sub.1) which is in the range of 1.0-2.4 and is equal to or larger than the ratio (t-D.sub.4)/(t-D.sub.1). The inorganic fine powder is contained in an amount which is 2-8 times that of the flowability-improving agent by weight. The developer is able to retain stable developing performances by effecting suppressing preferential consumption of a particular particle size fraction in a long term of successive copying.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus and a process cartridge includes a toner for developing an electrostatic image that is constituted by at least a binder resin and a charge control agent. The binder resin has an acid value of 5-50. The charge control agent includes an iron complex represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 independently denote hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, lower alkoxy group, nitro group or halogen atom; m and m' denote an integer of 1-3; R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 independently denote hydrogen atom, C.sub.1-18 alkyl or alkenyl, sufonamide, mesyl, sulfonic acid group, carboxy ester group, hydroxy, C.sub.1-18 alkoxy, acetylamino, benzoylamino or halogen atom; n and n' denote an integer of 1-3; R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 denote hydrogen atom or nitro group; and A.sup.+ denotes hydrogen ion, sodium ion, potassium ion or ammonium ion. The toner has a weight-average particle size (D.sub.4) of 4-9 .mu.m and including toner particles having a particle size of 5 .mu.m or smaller at 3-90% by number, toner particles having a particle size of 6.35-10.08 .mu.m at 1-80% by number and toner particles having a particle size of 12.7 .mu.m or larger at a percentage by volume of at most 2.0%, wherein the toner particles having a particle size of 5.0 .mu.m or smaller are contained at N % by number and at V % by volume satisfying a relationship:N/V=0.05N+k,wherein k is a positive number in the range of 3.0-7.5.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus is formed by providing a latent image-bearing member for holding an electrostatic image thereon and a toner-carrying member for carrying a prescribed magnetic toner comprising a binder resin and magnetic powder and having a particle size distribution including 12% by number or more of magnetic toner particles of 5 microns or smaller, 33% by number or less of magnetic toner particles of 8-12.7 microns and 2% by volume or less of magnetic toner particles of 16 microns or larger so as to provide a volume-average particle size of 4-10 microns. At the developing station, an alternating bias voltage comprising a DC voltage and an unsymmetrical AC voltage in superposition is applied between the toner-carrying member and the latent image-bearing member to provide an alternating bias electric field comprising a development-side voltage component and a reverse-development side voltage component. The development-side voltage component has a magnitude equal to or larger than that of the reverse development-side voltage component and a duration smaller than that of the reverse-development side voltage component, so that the magnetic toner on the toner-carrying member, particularly fine powdery fraction thereof effective for high-quality development, is effectively transferred to the latent image-bearing member to develop the electrostatic image thereon at the developing station.
