    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a screw lock assembly for a portable computing device. According to one example embodiment, the portable computing device includes a housing and a removable panel configured to attach to a portion of the housing. A screw lock assembly is coupled to the housing and includes pinion gear configured to mate with a rotatable screw attached to the removable panel. Furthermore, the removable panel is releasably attached to the housing via mating of the rotatable screw and pinion gear.
