    摘要: Stabilization systems for stabilizing one or more vertebral levels are provided. The systems include anchors engageable to the vertebrae and an elongate connecting member system that maintains distraction between the vertebrae while allowing at least limited vertebral motion of the stabilized vertebral levels. The stabilization systems can be employed alone in non-fusion procedure or in conjunction interbody fusion and/or postero-lateral fusion procedures. The connecting members are structured to maintain a constant or slightly variable distance between the anchors to which the connecting members are connected while the connections of the connecting members with the anchors allow motion.

    摘要: The present application is directed to a device for connecting an elongated member within a patient. The device includes a body with a receiving section to receive the elongated member, and an engagement section to engage a support structure, such as a vertebral member. The receiving section is sized to receive the elongated member in a first orientation. The process of securing the elongated member within the receiving section causes the device to pivot about the elongated member to a second orientation. This pivoting motion causes the engagement section to more securely attach to the support structure.

    摘要: An instrument is provided for use in orthopedic surgery for reduction of a connecting member such as a spinal rod toward an anchor. The reducing instrument includes an actuating assembly, a shaft assembly extending distally from the actuating assembly, and a distal engaging assembly. The distal engaging assembly includes a pair of arms movable toward and away from one another in response to proximal and distal movement of a reducing member of the shaft assembly. The arms are pivotally engageable to the anchor to facilitate alignment of the shaft assembly with the anchor. With the connecting member extending between the arms and also between the reducing member and the anchor, distal movement of the reducing member with the actuating assembly seats the connecting member in the anchor.
