    摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprises a non-magnetic substrate, a lower coating layer, which is overlaid upon the non-magnetic substrate and primarily contains a binder and inorganic particles dispersed in the binder, and a magnetic layer, which is overlaid upon the lower coating layer and is constituted of at least a single layer. The magnetic layer contains at least a binder and ferromagnetic metal particles dispersed in the binder. The thickness of the magnetic layer falls within the range of 0.05 .mu.m to 0.5 .mu.m. The surface roughness of a top magnetic layer is at most 3 nm. The lower coating layer contains a fatty acid. An increase in the number of small protrusions, which have a height of at least 30 nm, does not occur substantially on the surface of the magnetic layer after the magnetic recording medium has been stored for seven days under environmental conditions of a temperature of 60.degree. C. and a relative humidity of 90%.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium containing a support having thereon in order, a non-magnetic layer unit and a magnetic layer unit, said magnetic recording medium having been produced by providing a non-magnetic layer unit containing at least one non-magnetic layer and comprising a non-magnetic powder dispersed in a binder on a non-magnetic support followed by providing, while the non-magnetic layer is still wet, a magnetic layer unit containing at least one magnetic layer and comprising a ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder on the non-magnetic layer, wherein the mean thickness of the magnetic layer is 1.0 .mu.m or less and the non-magnetic powder in the non-magnetic layer comprises (A) a tabular non-magnetic powder having a tabular size of from 0.01 to 0.3 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 3 to 20, or an acicular non-magnetic powder having a long axis of from 0.05 to 0.25 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 3 to 15, (B) a carbon black powder having a mean particle size of from 0.01 to 0.04 .mu.m and (C) a powder component having a larger mean particle size than the mean particle size of either powders (A) or (B).

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium comprising a nonmagnetic support having provided thereon a magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder, wherein said ferromagnetic powder has a specific surface area of 40 m.sup.2 /g or more as measured by the BET method; said magnetic layer further comprises carbon black having an average particle diameter of from about 20 to 120 m.mu.; and said binder comprises the combination of (1) a vinyl chloride resin containing a phosphate ester group represented by ##STR1## wherein M.sub.1 and M.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents Na, K, Li, H, N.sym.R.sub.3, or N.sym.HR.sub.2 wherein R represents an alkyl group or a hydrogen atom, and (2) at least one resin other than said vinyl chloride resin containing at least one of --SO.sub.3 M, --OSO.sub.2 M, --COOM, and ##STR2## wherein M, M.sub.1, and M.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents Na, K, Li, H, N.sup.4 .sym. R.sub.3, or N.sup..sym. HR.sub.2 wherein R represents an alkyl group or a hydrogen atom; provided that the weight ratio of said resin other than said vinyl chloride resin to said vinyl chloride resin is from about 0.4 to 2.5.
