    Abstract: Enhancements to downlink feedback information (DFI) signaling is disclosed. According to the disclosed aspects, indications of DFI presence in downlink control information (DCI) messaging are provided that limit any increase to DCI overhead for uplink grants. In a first aspect, DFI presence may be signaled using unused or disallowed DCI variable states for indication of DFI presence. In another aspect, a separate bit may be added to a DCI message for indicating DFI presence. Additional aspects include repurposing DCI fields which are specific to cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI)-based uplink grants, or may defining a new RNTI (e.g., DFI-RNTI) for indicating DFI presence. Further aspects may provide for radio resource control (RRC) signaling that configures which DCI variable state can be used to indicate DFI presence.

    Abstract: Random access channel access and validity procedures are disclosed. In one aspect, the medium access control (MAC) indications multiple random access occasions (ROs) to user equipments (UEs) for random access transmissions. In such aspect, random access failure would only be declared if listen before talk (LBT) procedures for the random access transmission fail on all of the ROs indicated by the MAC layer. Similarly, in additional aspects, a UE will not apply a backoff value for any LBT failures for random access attempts that occur within an LBT time window. In further aspects, a UE may determine the validity of ROs that overlap with a discovery reference signal measurement timing configuration (DMTC) window. In such aspects, the UE may not use overlapping ROs or may determine a portion of the DMTC window that is not used for base station transmissions and declare the overlapping ROs with the unused portion valid.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method may include receiving, from a base station over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, a broadcast message including system information, the system information indicating a LBT mode of the base station and a set of random access channel resources associated with a fixed frame period, monitoring a wireless channel of the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the fixed frame period for control information from the base station based on the indicated LBT mode, determining, based on the monitoring, that the base station has access to the wireless channel during the fixed frame period, and performing, based on the determining, a random access channel transmission during the fixed frame period using the set of random access channel resources.

    Abstract: Frequency division multiplex (FDM) random access configuration and selection is disclosed for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) operations. For idle mode user equipment (UEs), the network may configured multiple frequency bands for random access. The UE may then select different frequencies for random access when default frequencies experience interference. For connected mode UEs, the network may configured which of multiple configured frequency bands the connected UE may use for autonomous random access transmissions. The UE may then select any of the allowed frequency bands for autonomous random access. Contention-free random access resources may be configured on one or more of the multiple configured frequency bands. When contention-free resources are available, the UEs may initially attempt access of the contention-free resources on the default frequency band before attempting random access on other configured bands or the UE is provided a priority of bands for access by the network.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to listen-before-talk (LBT) mode and/or transmission gap signaling for back-to-back grants and/or multi-transmission time interval (multi-TTI) grants are provided. In one embodiment, a first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, a scheduling grant indicating a gap period within a scheduled period. The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device during the scheduled period, a first communication signal including a silence period corresponding to the gap period. In one embodiment, a first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, a first scheduling grant indicating a first scheduled period and a second scheduling grant indicating a second scheduled period spaced apart from the first scheduled period. The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device based on an LBT mode determined based on the first scheduling grant and the second scheduling grant.
