    摘要: The present invention provides an over-voltage surge protection device comprising a printed circuit board having a signal carrying conductive member having a plurality of nodes positioned therealong, and a conductive member running to ground also having a plurality of odes positioned therealong. The nodes on the signal carrying member and ground member extend along a common path with corresponding ones of the signal carrying nodes positioned in adjacent, but spaced relation to the ground nodes. The peripheral edges of the nodes accumulate and discharge transient high voltage surges. Preferably the nodes are shaped in the form of triangles due to this particular geometry's favorable ability to accumulate and discharge voltage, but may be formed in a variety of geometries.

    摘要: Embodiments according to the present application can provide hand held portable diagnostic tools and methods for using the same that can terminate a user port in a coaxial cable system to detect whether a digital service marker indicating that fiber optic digital CATV service is present. Embodiments of a hand held portable tool and methods for using the same can include a connector attached at one end of a housing to pass a downstream signal from a coupled user-side coaxial cable port, and a power detector. The detector includes a first filter to pass a selected bandwidth and a rectifying power detector circuit to detect RF power in the selected bandwidth indicative of the digital service marker. Upon detection of the digital service marker, an indicator in the hand held portable diagnostic tools provides detectable or visual results to the user.

    摘要: An upstream bandwidth conditioning device that can be inserted into a signal transmission line of a CATV system on a premise of a user includes a main signal path and a filter array including a plurality of discrete signal filters coupled to the main signal path. Each of the signal filters is configured to reduce a signal level of at least one frequency portion of an upstream bandwidth. The device further includes a controller configured to select between a plurality of states. In at least two of the states at least one of the signal filters is selected such that a signal level of a lower frequency portion of the upstream bandwidth and a signal level of an higher frequency portion of the upstream bandwidth are reduced by a greater amount than a signal level of an intermediate frequency portion, which includes frequencies arranged between the lower frequency portion and the higher frequency portion.

The device includes a tunable low pass filter, a tunable high pass filter connected in series with the tunable low pass filter, and at least one voltage control unit. The voltage control unit is configured to adjust each of the tunable low pass filter and the tunable high pass filter between at least a first intermediate frequency range having a first width and a second intermediate frequency range having a second width. A method of configuring a path includes steps of determining a delay versus frequency characteristic of the path within the predetermined frequency band, and providing from one to a plurality of all-pass delay equalizers in the path, wherein a collective delay versus frequency characteristic of the all-pass delay equalizer(s) within a predetermined frequency band is a mirror image of that caused by the amplifier(s), such that all frequencies within the predetermined frequency band are delayed by substantially the same amount and hence all frequency components of a signal arrive at a receiver at substantially the same time.

The device is adapted to be coupled to incoming and outgoing coaxial cables and includes a ferrite core configured as a first hollow cylinder mounted coaxially within a housing configured as a second hollow cylinder. A conductor within the housing has opposite ends positioned for electrical contact with the incoming and outgoing coaxial cables and an intermediate portion passing through the ferrite core longitudinally at least twice, being passed back over the outside surface of the core between passes therethrough. The elements are so dimensioned that the outside diameter of the housing is less than one inch, thereby allowing side-by-side mounting of a plurality of the devices on industry-standard, multi-port taps which have center-to-center spacings of one inch.
