Abstract:
A bail lock for coverings for architectural openings wherein at least one of the bails defines a cord guide surface of changing front-to-back cross-sectional profile so as to define a cord passage between the inner and outer bails that varies from a relatively straight path that allows the cord to pass freely through, to a more tortuous path that applies substantial frictional force to the cord.
Abstract:
A locking mechanism for a covering for architectural openings includes at least one dog which cooperates with a stop surface to stop the high speed lowering of a rail that supports the covering while permitting the rail to be lowered at a slower speed and to be raised regardless of the speed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds of formula I: along with methods of use of these compounds as pharmaceuticals, particularly in the treatment of obesity, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance, diseases associated with reduced neuronal metabolism, and cancer as well as the use of these compounds for treatment of pathogens of humans and animals, and for the control of agricultural pests, particularly fungi, weeds and insects.
Abstract:
An anti-splash device for use in a cup or other container can help prevent or minimize sloshing, splashing and other undesirable movement of fluids. In some embodiments, the device includes a main body portion having a plurality of openings. The device can also include one or more features that are configured to engage an interior wall of the cup or other container. In other embodiments, the anti-splash device can attach to the brim of a cup or to a lid. In other embodiments, an anti-splash device, a cup lid or any other components related to a beverage or food container comprises one or more finger guides that provide targeted points of contact when manipulating such a device.
Abstract:
A cord drive mechanism to convert linear motion to circular motion for use in coverings for architectural openings. Various controls are used to provide a braking force on the cord. Some of the embodiments incorporate a capstan.
Abstract:
A process for removing selenium from an aqueous stream using a supported sulfur material, and optionally the addition of an activating agent for enhanced removal of selenite, is disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds of formula I: along with methods of use thereof for the control of agricultural pests, particularly fungal pests, weedy pests and insect pests, as well as use as pharmaceuticals, particularly the treatment of obesity, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease and insulin resistance, e.g., type II or adult-onset diabetes as well as fungal pathogens of humans and animals
Abstract:
Treating a skin condition with electromagnetic radiation includes receiving the radiation at an image-shaping device, and causing the image-shaping device to form a shaped treatment image including the electromagnetic radiation on a patient's skin based on the skin condition.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for performing a therapeutic treatment on a patient's skin by concentrating applied radiation of at least one selected wavelength at a plurality of selected, three-dimensionally located, treatment portions, which treatment portions are within non-treatment portions. The ratio of treatment portions to the total volume may vary from 0.1% to 90%, but is preferably less than 50%. Various techniques, including wavelength, may be utilized to control the depth to which radiation is concentrated and suitable optical systems may be provided to concentrate applied radiation in parallel or in series for selected combinations of one or more treatment portions.
