Abstract: A method of stimulating petroleum production includes introducing a fracturing fluid into a petroleum bearing carbonate formation, thereby creating at least one fracture to stimulate the petroleum production. The fracturing fluid is introduced into the petroleum bearing carbonate formation at a pressure above the breakdown pressure of the formation. The fracturing fluid includes a plurality of proppants where from 1 to 50 wt. % of the plurality of proppants includes micro proppants having a particle size ranging from 0.5 to 150 μm, and from 50 to 99 wt. % of the plurality of proppants includes macro proppants having a particle size greater than 100 mesh.

Abstract: A method of stimulating petroleum production includes introducing a fracturing fluid into a petroleum formation, thereby creating at least one fracture to stimulate the petroleum production. The fracturing fluid is introduced into the petroleum formation at a pressure above the breakdown pressure of the formation. The fracturing fluid includes a plurality of proppants each including a proppant particle and a coating. The coating includes a hydrophobic coating, a cross-linked hydrogel, or both. From 1 to 50 wt. % of the plurality of proppants includes micro proppants having a particle size ranging from 0.5 to 150 μm, and from 50 to 99 wt. % of the plurality of proppants includes macro proppants having a particle size of 100 mesh or greater.

Abstract: A method of dissolving a gas hydrate in a pipeline includes introducing a gas hydrate dissolving solution into the pipeline and allowing the gas hydrate dissolving solution to at least partially dissolve the gas hydrate in the pipeline. The nanocomposite proppant coating includes a nano-reinforcing agent, a surface modifier, and a resin. The nanocomposite proppant coating coats the proppant particle. Additionally, a method for increasing a rate of hydrocarbon production from a subsurface formation through the use of the proppants is provided.

Abstract: Unconventional hydrocarbon source rock reservoirs can contain the organic material kerogen, intertwined with the rock matrix. The kerogen can alter the tensile strength of the rock and contribute to higher fracture energy needs. To degrade kerogen and other organic materials, oxidizing gasses are dissolved in carbon dioxide (CO2) which is then used as part of a fracturing fluid. The oxidizing gasses can be dissolved directly in the CO2 or generated in situ using precursors.
