Abstract:
A method of optimizing retention of signal information from a physiologically generated digital signal is provided. The method can comprise steps of generating a digital signal from a physiological source, storing the digital signal into a memory location as a stored digital signal, identifying within the stored digital signal a preferred digital signal event exclusive of a non-preferred digital signal event, wherein the preferred digital signal event has a first event compression level and the non-preferred digital signal event has a second event compression level, detecting a memory storage limitation in the memory location, and increasing the second event compression level of the non-preferred digital signal event as a result of detecting a memory storage limitation. Also, the portable monitor can detect the presence of an upload source to which the digital signal can be uploaded in order to minimize the need to compress the signal.
Abstract:
A system and method for merit-based software licensing comprises determining a quality value for a target software based on the target software's performance and computing a licensing fee based on the quality value.
Abstract:
A system and method of processing an image comprises receiving a definition of at least one region in the image, where the region definition has a location specification and a type specification. The method further comprises displaying the boundaries of the at least one defined region according to its type specification, receiving a definition of a visible area in the image, the visible area definition having a specification of margins around the image, generating an image layout definition comprising the region definition and the visible area definition, and saving the image layout definition. The image layout definition may also be used as a template to conform image documents to a specified layout.
Abstract:
A method for making an authenticating system for an object includes selecting an image and adding a watermark in a predetermined area of the image. The predetermined area may be a portion of the image. The method also includes establishing the image having the watermark therein on the object, and associating the watermark with the object to render object-specific authenticating data.
Abstract:
A method for dynamic control of medications provided to a patient at a remote location is disclosed. The method can include steps of selecting a customized set of medications for a patient, where the customized set of medications at least partially reflect a medical diagnosis of the patient, and providing the customized set of medications to the patient, where the customized set of medications are inaccessible to the patient without authorization from a medical care provider. Further steps of the method can include authorizing the patient to receive a first medication regimen from the customized set of medications, monitoring remotely at least one health parameter of the patient, and authorizing the first medication regimen to be modified to a second medication regimen based at least partially on the at least one health parameter.
Abstract:
A method of obtaining a filtered electrocardiogram is provided. The method includes the steps of obtaining a vectorcardiogram, filtering the vectorcardiogram to form a filtered vectorcardiogram, and transforming the filtered vectorcardiogram into a filtered electrocardiogram. The method may also include the preliminary step of obtaining an electrocardiogram, and then transforming the electrocardiogram into the vectorcardiogram.
Abstract:
Implementations of the present invention provide an authentication method for tagged items. The first portion of the authentication method includes determining an identifier associated with a tag for each of one or more items in a container and hashing the identifiers from the one or more items in the container creating a digest. The second portion of the authentication method is performed after the items are shipped or transferred. This second portion of the authentication method includes determining an identifier associated with a tag for each of the one or more items in a container, hashing the identifiers from the one or more items in the container to create a verification digest, determining if the verification digest matches a digest of the identifiers previously hashed and indicating that the contents of the container may have changed in response to the match determination.
Abstract:
A method of applying content and a data encoding pattern 18 to a product 10 comprises: applying the content 14 to a substrate 12; modifying the reflectivity of the content 14 at a predetermined wavelength; and applying the pattern 18 to the product, wherein the method is such that the pattern can be distinguished from the content at the predetermined wavelength.
Abstract:
Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with electrocardiogram electrode characterization and compensation are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes a characterization logic configured to generate signals designed to facilitate characterizing an electrocardiogram electrode. The characterization logic may also be configured to analyze signals produced in response to introducing the signals into a subject. The example system may also include a compensation logic configured to determine whether an electrode is performing in a desired manner and to selectively compensate for electrode performance.
Abstract:
A method of reproducing an image, comprising: creating a, or using an already existing, bitmap-input image; finding zones in the input image containing text; determining colors of pixels, characters, or larger text items in the text zones; reproducing the image, wherein pixels, characters or larger text items with a color near to a primary color are reproduced in the primary color.
