The image processing unit includes an edge extraction unit that extracts an edge based on the pixel values of the image data; a region determination unit that determines a region to be processed where a sum of edge intensities of the pixels including the notice pixel becomes greater than or equal to a threshold; and a smoothening unit that changes a smoothening intensity in accordance with a size of the region to be processed to smoothen the notice pixel corresponding to the region to be processed.

    摘要: An image correcting apparatus is provided for preventing a degraded image quality which can be caused by a three-dimensional distortion correction made to a scanned image distorted in a trapezoidal shape. Divergent distortion angles α, β of a scanned image are detected using a page contour of a book document which can be found near the upper or lower edge of the scanned image in a main scanning direction. The scanned image is corrected for a divergent distortion based on the divergent distortion angles α, β, followed by a correction of the scanned image for a shape distortion in a sub-scanning direction. In this way, the image quality can be prevented from degradation possibly caused by the three-dimensional distortion correction, if made to such a scanned image distorted in a trapezoidal shape.

    摘要: A 3-D visual simulating system stores image data sets in a predetermined viewing space for right and left visual field and selects a portion of the stored image data corresponding to the current visual field for displaying it to an observer. The 3-D image stimulus changes according to the current visual field of the observer and the location of the observer in a predetermined visual space in a manner that undesirable perceptional effects are substantially eliminated. The image data sets are stored in a reduced space in an efficient manner for retrieval.

    摘要: A projector is often positioned so that its optical axis is at an imperfect orthogonal angle with respect to a projection screen. This position causes a keystone distortion as well as imperfect focus in the projected image. To correct these undesirable problems, initially, a lens and/or an image-forming plate is independently repositioned to bring the projected image into focus based upon user input data. The keystone distortion is also corrected by redrawing the image on an image-forming surface based upon additional user input data.
