    摘要: An objective lens unit according to the present invention includes a first objective lens 41; and a first lens holder 2 for supporting the first objective lens 41. The first lens holder 2 is formed of a material which transmits ultraviolet. Preferably, the first lens holder 2 includes a through-hole, having first and second openings 2a and 2b, through which light incident on the first objective lens 41 passes, and an opening limiting section 3 provided along a circumferential direction of the through-hole and projecting toward a central axis of the through-hole. The first objective lens 41 is supported so as to block the first opening 2b. The opening limiting section 3 guides light incident thereon from the second opening 2a in a direction away from an optical axis of the first objective lens.

    摘要: A guide shaft and a guide portion movably guide a lens holder for holding a collimator lens (i.e. correction lens) in an optical axis direction. A stepping motor rotates a screw shaft arranged in parallel to the optical axis direction. A nut member converts a rotating movement of the screw shaft into a rectilinear movement of the optical axis direction. An urging spring urges the lens holder against the guide shaft and the guide portion. The lens holder is driven in the optical axis direction along the guide shaft by the stepping motor, with a first contact portion and a second contact portion of the lens holder being contacted with the guide shaft, and a third contact portion of the lens holder being contacted with the guide portion by an urging force of the urging spring. The optical pickup device having the above arrangement allows for stable driving of a correction lens.

    摘要: When performing a read or write operation on an optical disc with information storage layers, this compatible optical head with a two-focus lens can reduce interference caused by an unnecessary diffracted light reflected from a non-target layer and not contributing to reading or writing. The head reads and/or writes information from/on storage media, including first and second media with different protective substrate thicknesses, by irradiating a given one with a laser beam and includes: a diffraction element that diffracts the beam to produce diffracted light of multiple orders; an objective lens for converging nth and mth order ones of the light on the respective storage layers of the first and second media; a photodetector that receives the beam reflected from the medium and condensed; and a light shielding portion for preventing a portion of the beam reflected from the storage layer of the second medium and including its optical axis from reaching the photodetector. The light shielding portion is arranged so as to reduce loss to be caused by cutting off the portion of the beam to a predetermined value or less.
