摘要: A liquid crystal display device is configured such that a liquid crystal layer is held between a pair of substrates. The liquid crystal display device includes, in a display area including a plurality of pixels, pixel electrodes which are disposed in association with the respective pixels, a counter-electrode which is disposed to be opposed to the pixel electrodes via the liquid crystal layer, scanning lines which are disposed along a row direction of the pixels, signal lines which are disposed along a column direction of the pixels, and an electrically conductive layer which is disposed to be opposed to the counter-electrode via the liquid crystal layer between neighboring ones of the pixel electrodes, and has such a potential as to provide a black display voltage relative to a potential of the counter-electrode.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel DP in which liquid crystal pixels PX are connected to a source line X via pixel switching elements, and a display control circuit CNT which performs non-video signal writing for driving the source line X according to a non-video signal and applying the potential of the source line X to one of the liquid crystal pixels PX via a selected one of the pixel switching elements T and performs video signal writing for driving the source line X according to a video signal and applying the potential of the source line X to one of the liquid crystal pixels PX via a selected one of the pixel switching elements T. The display control circuit CNT is configured to provide a precharge period between a non-video signal writing period in which the non-video signal writing is performed and a video signal writing period in which video signal writing is initially performed after the non-video signal writing and transition the potential of the source line X to a level which is close to an intermediate gradation display level corresponding to a video signal in the precharge period.

摘要: In a liquid crystal panel in which pseudo dot inversion driving is performed, the occurrence of flicker or vertical and horizontal strings is prevented by preventing an alignment shift between individual layers during the fabrication of a TFT array from producing a difference between the respective abilities of thin-film TFTs to charge adjacent pixels (61, 62). For this purpose, the liquid crystal display panel is constructed such that two TFTs which are enclosed by two adjacent image signal lines (21, 22) and scan signal lines (3) and adjacent to each other along the signal lines (21, 22) have respective source electrodes (71, 72) adjacent to the different image signal lines (21, 22). The source electrodes (71, 72) and drain electrodes (81, 82) of the two TFTs connected to the adjacent pixels (61, 62) are alternately arranged such that variations caused by the alignment shift in the sizes and areas of overlapping portions between the individual layers of the TFTs are equal or the same.

摘要: One of a pair of substrates with liquid crystals sandwiched therebetween includes a plurality of pixels each of which is provided with a scanning electrode, an image signal electrode, a switching element provided at an intersection of the scanning electrode and the image signal electrode, a pixel electrode connected to the image signal electrode via the switching element, a counter electrode, and a busbar electrically connected to the counter electrode. A portion of the pixel electrode is overlapped with the busbar so as to make up a storage capacitance. A shape of the pixel electrode is altered for each pixel so that a value of the storage capacitance becomes smaller from a feeding side to a termination side. The portion of the pixel electrode overlapped with the busbar so as to make up the storage capacitance is located within the busbar in a plan view of the device.

摘要: A liquid crystal shutter includes a first support substrate having a first electrode and a second support substrate having a second electrode opposite to the first electrode. A liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the first and second electrodes so as to have a switching region. The switching region becomes a bend alignment state from a splay alignment state when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer. A nucleus region formation portion is arranged on the first support substrate to form a nucleus region in the switching region corresponding to the nucleus region formation portion in the liquid crystal layer, in which the splay alignment is more stable than in the switching region.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes liquid crystal pixels, signal line groups each including a predetermined number of signal lines, and a drive circuit which selects the pixels on a row-by-row basis and drives the pixels of the selected row via the signal lines. The drive circuit includes a signal line driver which outputs a predetermined number of pixel voltages for each group driving period while the pixels of each row are being selected, a multiplexer which distributes to each signal line group the pixel voltages output from the signal line driver, and a controller which controls the multiplexer to electrically connect all of the signal line groups to the signal line driver and electrically disconnect the signal line groups one by one from the signal line driver for each group driving period, in a selection period of the pixels of an initial row that requires polarity inversion.

摘要: This is an active matrix liquid crystal display device comprising a capacitive accumulation portion formed by overlapping a pixel electrode, an insulating layer and a common electrode for each pixel area, and a non-electrode area in a part of the pixel area which is not covered with a pixel electrode, wherein a peripheral shape of said capacitive accumulation portion on a side contacting said non-electrode area is substantially the same between the respective pixels, and a value of a storage capacity in said capacitive accumulation portion differs on a feeding side and on a termination side, the value on the feeding side being larger than the value on the termination side. Thereby, a constant aperture ratio can be maintained by changing the storage capacity value for each pixel. Furthermore, by using a lateral electric field method liquid crystal display device, the storage capacity value can be changed while maintaining the aperture ratio of the pixel constant, and the electric fields applied to the liquid crystal layer in the display portion can be kept evenly. As a result, deterioration and unevenness of display characteristics do not occur. Moreover, even in the case of using a light shield film to improve contrast and so forth, a light shield film with a narrower width than that in a conventional configuration can be used, so that the aperture ratio does not drop drastically.
