Abstract:
A method for correcting a vehicle compass measurement for an interfering magnetic field generated by a vehicle accessory, where the interfering magnetic field has an intensity sufficient to cause a compass measurement error, includes monitoring the operation of the vehicle accessory and detecting a characteristic of operation of the vehicle accessory. A measurement or timing signal is then generated based on the characteristic of operation. A magnetic field for direction is measured in response to the measurement signal and an offset or correction value is determined based at least one the measured magnetic field and the characteristic of operation of the vehicle accessory.
Abstract:
An operator assembly for a casement window that includes a frame and a pane carrying sash. The operator assembly is mounted to the frame and an elongated arm connects the operator assembly and the sash. Movement of the arm moves the sash relative to the frame for opening and closing the window. The operator arm includes a pivotally mounted and linerally moveable handle which is moveable between a first and second position. A ratchet-type gearing system is provided to connect the handle and operator arm and to effect movement of the operator arm in response to movement of the handle. A selector associated with the handle and gearing system is provided to effect and control the direction of sash movement in response to the movements by the handle. A locking system is provided to engage the gearing system to prevent movement of the gearing system due to loads on the sash that are transmitted to the gearing system through the sash and operator arm. The locking system is biased to an engaged position but is disengaged by movement of the actuator handle and a device associated therewith.
Abstract:
A one or two-piece garment generally contoured to conform to the shape of the human torso manufactured from a semi-rigid material such as leather or plastics, with an arched support fixed to the garment between the top front and top rear portions of said garment. Incorporated within the body of the arched support is an anchoring device, with a trigger style archery bow string release mechanism which permits a physically challenged person to draw an archery bow and then release the bow string and thus fully participate in the sport of bow shooting.
Abstract:
A collapsible wheel rim structure adapted to support an inflated tire including a rim formed from pivotally mounted rim sections, and an internal plate support for the rim which fits into an internal track on the rim. The disc is formed from sections slidably mounted together which when fully extended enclose the area within the rim and support the rim. Supplementary rim support can be provided with collapsible cross-bars which fit into prongs on the internal surface of the rim so that the cross-bars extend across the internal diameter of the rim.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention relates to a reverse shoulder assembly. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a reverse shoulder assembly method of use. In one example, a reverse shoulder assembly of the present invention may be provided such that the reverse shoulder assembly alters the abduction force created by a patient's deltoid to a forward flexion force. In one example, a reverse shoulder assembly of the present invention may be provided such that the reverse shoulder assembly alters the abduction force created by a patient's deltoid to an external rotation force. In one example, a reverse shoulder assembly of the present invention may be provided such that the reverse shoulder assembly alters the abduction force created by a patient's deltoid to an external rotation force and a forward flexion force.
Abstract:
A ballistic baffle includes an abrasion and impact layer for deflecting bullets and one or more layers of energy dissipating material. The abrasion and impact layer takes the impact of a projectile while the energy dissipation material disperses the energy thereof to reduce or eliminate the risk of the bullet penetrating the abrasion and impact material. The composite baffle enables the use of baffles that are lighter weight, less expensive and/or have improved performance characteristics over conventional single layer baffles.
Abstract:
A multifunction target actuator allows a bullet target to be selectively presented to a shooter such that a first side may be presented, a second side opposite the first side may be presented, and the target may be oriented so as not to be presented to the shooter. The actuator allows for quick and accurate movement of the target.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method to obtain bone fixation. More particularly, one embodiment of the present invention relates to a mechanism for achieving bone “through-growth” in a variety of orthopaedic applications. In one example (which example is intended to be illustrative and not restrictive), a prosthesis designed to achieve bone “through-growth” via one or more “windows” in a peg or keel structure may be provided (bone graft may be inserted into the peg or keel structure). In one specific example (which example is intended to be illustrative and not restrictive), a glenoid prosthesis (and associated method) may be used to resurface the scapula. In another specific example, the present invention may be used in the context of a partial or total shoulder arthroplasty.
Abstract:
A vehicle compass system for compensating for magnetic disturbances caused by a moveable vehicle accessory includes a magnetic field sensor and a control circuit coupled to the moveable vehicle accessory and the magnetic field sensor. The magnetic field sensor is positioned at a distance from the moveable vehicle accessory and is configured to determine an orientation of the magnetic field sensor with respect to the Earth's magnetic field and to generate magnetic field data. The control circuit is configured to receive a position signal from the moveable vehicle accessory indicating whether the moveable vehicle accessory is changing position, to receive magnetic field data from the magnetic field sensor, to compare first magnetic field data generated prior to the change in position of the moveable vehicle accessory to second magnetic field data generated after the change in position of the moveable vehicle accessory and to generate a correction value based on the comparison of the first magnetic field data and the second magnetic field data. The correction value is used to correct for the magnetic disturbance caused by the moveable vehicle accessory.
