摘要: A “loose ACK” method by which a radio access network of a cellular network monitors wireless transmission of packets according to a layered protocol including a radio layer (near the physical layer) and an upper layer, the method including: a step (23) of slow release—in what is called normal buffer management—in which the upper layer removes from a buffer maintained by the upper layer the oldest packet in the buffer when the buffer is full and a new packet arrives, and does so independently of whether the packet being removed has been acknowledged by the radio layer of the terminal; and a step (24) of local acknowledgement in which the radio layer sends an acknowledgement to the upper layer on the occurrence of a predetermined event. The local acknowledgement can trigger either special mode buffer management or release of the buffer to a target (entity or layer).

摘要: Methods and systems for carrying call control information after a call handover from an Internet Protocol (IP) packet switched network to a circuit switched cellular network and vice versa. The IP packet switched network includes a processing server capable of processing IP-based protocol messages. The circuit switched cellular network includes a mobile switching center. A gateway is operatively connected as a bridge between the IP packet switched network and the circuit switched cellular network. The gateway is capable of encapsulating an IP-based protocol message into a payload of a second message, and extracting an IP-based protocol message from a payload of another message. One or more user devices are capable of transmitting and receiving to/from the IP packet switched network and the circuit switched cellular network. The user devices are capable of encapsulating an IP-based protocol message into a payload of a second message, and extracting an IP-based protocol message from a payload of another message. The IP-based protocol message contains call control information that is encapsulated, transparently transferred through the switched cellular network, and extracted. The call control information is transferred between the IP packet switched network and the user device. The circuit switched cellular network may be part of a circuit switched cellular system that also includes an overlayed packet switched network. The call control information may be carried in packets between the IP packet switched network and the user device transparently through the overlayed packet switched network.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and network node for controlling packet flow in a buffer means (13; 14) of a network node of a data network, wherein a nominal capacity is assigned to each data flow, and an additional or free capacity is shifted from a first flow portion to a second flow portion when a new data packet of said second flow portion has been received and said nominal capacity has been exceeded. The nominal capacity may be an upper buffer memory limit used for controlling queuing of data packets in a buffer memory (13) of said buffer means, wherein the memory space of the buffer memory (13) is shared between a plurality of channels allocated to respective packet data connections. Then, the free capacity corresponds to a memory space shifted from a first channel to a second channel, when a new data packet of the second channel has been received and not enough memory space is available for the second channel. Thus, a dynamic buffer-sharing mechanism is provided which reduces the number of packet drops in the buffer memory (13) during congestion and improves network throughput. Alternatively, the nominal capacity may be a nominal flow rate at which data flow traffic is guaranteed in a QoS scheduling algorithm. Then, a residual rate corresponding to the difference between the nominal flow rate and an instantaneous traffic is shifted between flow portions of a buffer means controlled by the scheduling algorithm to maximize total system throughput.

摘要: A system and method for including aggregation control information in an aggregate frame that facilitates enhanced power efficiency is provided. Aggregation control information may include lengths of frames addressed to different stations and/or transmission opportunities to different stations. A receiving station is then able to calculate an offset within the aggregate frame that identifies the position of frames addressed to the receiving station and/or offset when it can use the medium to transmit it's data. The receiving station may then enter a sleep mode and awaken at a proper time for using the medium to either receive, or transmit data on the medium. Additionally, aggregation control information may include rate information to facilitate aggregation of multi-rate data in an aggregate frame.

摘要: This invention provides an improved address management scheme in a mobile router (MR) that connects a mobile network into the Internet via an access network. The MR performs neighbor advertisement on behalf of mobile network nodes (MNNs) within the mobile network so that packets directed towards the MNNs are routed correctly to the MR, and then to the corresponding MNN, while maintaining standard address management procedures, such as IPv6 address management procedures, in the access network and in the mobile network.

摘要: A method of optimizing the compression efficiency in a packet data communication where a compression history of previous packets is used for the compression of a current packet, the method including: updating the compression history selectively, wherein the selection is performed based on a first algorithm whether a packet shall be compressed, and on a second algorithm whether a compressed packet shall be used for an update of the compression history. The compressor can be enabled to safely infer a subset of the context at the decompressor by simply monitoring the Transmission Control Protocol acknowledgment signaling, wherein that subset is used as a context for compression.

摘要: The invention is a system and method for synchronizing the transmission of compressed headers in data packets between a transmitter and a receiver having a preferred wireless application which is an improvement of RFC2508. In a system having a transmitter transmitting a plurality of packets each containing a header to a receiver, a method of synchronizing the transmission of compressed headers between the transmitter and receiver in accordance with the invention includes transmitting a current packet from the transmitter to the receiver containing information that the transmitter is prepared to send subsequently transmitted packets in which the headers therein are to be compressed in comparison to the header contained in the current packet; and transmitting from the receiver to the transmitter an acknowledgment packet that the receiver has received the current packet.
